As far as I can tell its a boost. Before when my mage died he didnt gain any energy. Now he will gain 1000.

What good is 1000 energy if you are lying on the floor most of the time?

Some people like the focus boost, as long as it is not the only stat boost. The 10% reduction in cast time braces are useless, they should not have been implemented.
