Selling drops is ludicrous

#1
I’ve seen a trend here in Arawn starting to form that disgusts me! The trend is when people fight a red boss that instead for giving the drop to someone in the group that was fighting the boss who needs it; they sell it to the person that needs it or someone else. This is pure greed and a horrible way to play. I understand clan loyalties, customs, and rules, but come on! If you don’t need the drop, give it to someone in the group who needs it and preferably the highest level if they need it. And by give I mean for free!! But it’s really not free is it. They earned it by helping with the boss.

Listen this game is a MMO and is about people not drops frags, shiny armor, or even clans!! I am certainly not helping with a boss fight so that someone can make money. I will not group you if I hear you have sold a drop to someone when group member needed it. This is pure greed and just as bad as kill stealing in my book because you are using people for you gain! And the new drops are class specific! Give me a break.

Sorry if this sounds harsh but it disgusts me and the way I play!

*I see the super Red bosses (6-star - Dreadroot, Spearhoof, RockBelly, ShiverCowl) a little bit different becuase of the difficulty and the need for several groups, but not much!

If it's a black drop and there are no rogues in the group, I don't have an issue with someone keeping and selling it

But if it's a black drop and there is a rogue in the group, and you don't give it over, I simply don't understand at all. It just blows my mind, you didn't do anything more than that person to get that drop, it's just pure luck. You don't deserve it more than them, you don't have any right to it whereas it's their class. They came to that fight looking for that item, and you sell it? Even to them? That's just as broken in the spirit of the game as I have ever seen.

Yeah I fully agree with this post.

I agree with Tea and Raven. However, not everyone is so selfless or as gracious. The way to deal with this is that we will note who are those unwilling to share and stop grouping them in future. That will give them zero chance to get drop.

That would be great to see if every one did the same.. But with a group of many warrs and one Druid, or a mixture of lvls it doesn't work so well, I'm happy giving gold for an item a group member got, somtimes it's the only way low lvls can get a bit of gold, and after all they did get the drop.. Fate decides :)

A lot of groups are filled by multi clans these days so I'd feel really bad expecting some one to give me thier drop because it's a green and I'm the highest Druid in the group. I'd actually prefer to trade or buy it so they don't go without. If they do give it of thier own accord, I do make a note and make sure I do the same with them.

I think the issue is more about the DPS getting the drop after Warrior/Druid group did all the work and then the DPS group (who would never have gotten the drop without the tank/druid team) run off with the drop. That imo is really bad behavior and if I hear of someone doing it I don't fight with them anymore. Besides the drop, the DPS group gets all the XP and Gold drops already, it seems only normal that the frags are distributed fairly amongst those helping and I think fair also means that the tank/druid group gets at least one drop.

Totally agree with that.. Think I was one of the first to post about it. In a boss kill with two or more groups, the drop needs to be shared. Maybe only invite guys to a group who agree before the fight how it will be split.

Guess my point is that in one group that is fighting a boss everyone is helping. Drops should be shared with the class that needs it. We mostly group higher levels for these fights so gold is not an issue. I have always given freely class specific drops from my time in the catacombs till now. I looked at an old post (see below) and realized that I have always been this way. To me there is no greater joy in this game than helping people. I have seen selfless behavior come from this act of giving. I have seen players give drops that they needed for another player! I dont consider selling someone something they need helping that much. I realize that some people donot want to take a gift. I have taken token gifts in return but I would never required the token gift. My joy comes form the act of giving.

Old Post
----------------------------

*) Give it away don’t sell it! Alright I admit I have sold like three things, but usually I give all equipment away that I get from drops. I don’t get real upset when people sell things, but I don’t care for it. Actually a suggestion for those selling. Don’t keep screaming out what you are selling. If it’s warrior gear look for a warrior whisper him up and sell it to him if he wants it etc... Also never sell it to the vendor if it is something someone can use. The vendor prices are terrible. I’d rather save it until someone comes along that can use it than sell it to the vendor.

*) Elite Boss Drops -- For the better stuff it goes to clan members first and usually the highest clan members. I have some times traded them for their item and passed it down. Just think one item means that a whole line of druids get new gear not just 1! After the clan is taken care of I will give stuff to the non clan members. I also am OK with giving the elite boss drop to someone in the group who fought the boss. That is also a fair way to handle elite drops.

Raven I agree with most of what you've said... I've probably only sold a couple of things... And those things I've bought of someone else, so just recouping money spent... I prefer to give things away I don't need... Karma pays you back in the end!

Though at the same time, I have no issue buying items, frags etc off people, it takes me a long time to gather enough coins to pay for these things...

The shouting thing is annoying... Especially when someone shouts about a warrior item and I check the area screen, to find that there is only two warriors on it! Why not whisper...?
