Mage Guild - Arawn Chapter

Due to the lack of mages in the game I have decided to start a guild. Unfortunately the only vehicle in the game to do this is the clan so I started one. All mages are honorary members whether or not you join. If you find yourself outside a clan come to the guild for a while. I have tried to friend every mage on Arawn and will continue to do so to create a network. What that means is that I will not be able to join any other clan. That is a sacrifice I am willing to make. I have friends and they invite me into groups. As a teacher and a scoutmaster it is kind of ingrained in me to help others. So be it.
Q: Why create a guild of only mages, how do you do a boss fight?
A: Actually it would be fun to see 7 mages in a boss fight but I don’t see that happening very often. At the moment there are only about 20 active mages playing right now and almost all the higher levels are already in clans. But, there are so few mages we tend to get invited to groups regardless of what clan we are in. Also, as often as some people change clans what is the point of clan membership? Building a good relationship with the clans should overcome most of that. It is a work in progress so we shall see how it goes. Arawn appears to have a much friendlier inter clan relationship than other worlds so let’s hope for the best. With any luck the clans will realize that if their mage is offline they can ask the guild for some support.
Q: So if we don’t boss fight what does the guild do?
A: The main purpose is to encourage new mages and improve access to mage equipment. With so few of us there is a need to encourage hand me down items. Also, as mage items get dropped the other classes can seek out a Guild member and we can access clan chat to see if anyone is interested in an item.

Expectations:
- Trade policy: Though there are no hard rules, we should try to have a win-win for all trades. The seller should make more than what the merchants will offer and the buyer should spend less than the merchants ask. Let’s target in the middle so everybody wins.
Proxies Discouraged: Do not purchase anything for somebody else. People change their minds and misunderstandings are too easy. Buy your own stuff and sell your own stuff and nobody gets offended.
No Free Lunch: Your spells are yours to do as you wish. However, some people think it is the mages obligation to cast fire cloak on anybody who asks. Those same people think druids have nothing better to do than heal everybody that wanders by. Do as you wish but it is customary for you to get something in return for your service. Either group to share experience or some form of fee for service. We don’t ask warriors to go kill something for us and give us the drop do we?
Grouping together: You will be surprised what two mages can accomplish. Try to stay within 5 levels of each other or the benefits diminish.
Guild Philanthropy: It is in our best interest to encourage the development of mages. Lower mages are expected to ask higher levels for a little help in finishing a quest but the lower mage should not expect a free armed escort the next level. We help you with your homework but will not do it for you. All mages are busy. Every 5 min we spend with you is another 2000 xp we didn’t get ourselves. Don’t be offended if nobody is available to help.
Begging is discouraged. There is no free lunch. Begging is a guaranteed way to get everybody mad at you. We all earn our way. Man up and work.
Be courteous. If you need this explained go ask your mom.
