So...Being a ranger is expensive? >.> Why would a ranger be expensive? Think of all the pots the tanks go through. That has to cost SOME money, right? 100 pots for 20k is how I buy them. And ten bossfights a day? No -.-
Oh, and you totally just left out Shad0whunt3r and Jiyun.

All classes are expensive to play. Rangers are not the most expensive, I'm sure.

This is a silly topic, forgot Everunner to start out. Second of all, all classes are extremely expensive if geared properly. Thirdly, each class can add something to a fight, combining everyone's skills. Lastly, it is true warriors spend a crap ton on pots... So thank you wars... The ones that are legit tanks at least ;)

I feel stupid, I forgot Everunner too :/ And Allpashion, can you please explain WHY you rangers should get ten bosses a day? >.>

Allpashion, if you are getting in on close to 10 successful boss runs a day, you should be happy! I don't know if I have EVER had such a high kill count since Shalemont and Stonevale came out (perhaps a couple times) and if I did, it certainly wasn't a regular occurrence.

Try to not obsess about bosses quite so much, try to be a bit more 'relaxed' in general chat, and (as I tell everyone) ALWAYS try to keep a positive attitude! Do this and you may have more luck getting invites or convincing ppl to group with you. The other thing you can do is to work with your clannies (or random people in need of assistance) to help them climb in level and equipment so that you can form your own boss hunting groups. (this takes times though, obviously...)

I get along fine with you All, and I admire your 'zeal' for hunting big game, but I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say that you may have alienated yourself with some people - either by calling out certain players (this almost always backfires, btw) or by getting upset because a group won't invite you. I understand your frustration, but you gotta let it roll off you like water off a duck's back! And sometimes, being the bigger man by swallowing your pride and apologizing or extending some sort of olive branch to 'foes' will pay off biger dividend than declaring someone is you 'enemy' to the whole area/world. Also, frequent posting of :( emoticons or 'hrmphs' in chat doesn't draw people closer - it pushes people away...

As for the expensiveness of the class, we all feel you pain, but top-notch gear is expensive no matter what class you play. My advice is: Don't spend EVERY moment running from boss to boss hoping that you will get a big kill so you can get that one item you can sell for 50k... Killing TONS of lesser mobs can be quite lucrative, in the log run anyway.

Instead, use positive power! Stop and smell the roses sometime, ask people how their day is going, compliment others when they level up or get a new piece of gear, and crack a few jokes here and there and soon you will find that other players will be flocking to your clan and/or aide in battle!

I hope nothing I have said here offends you All - that was not my intent. I would (and have) given this advice to many others. So don't get me wrong, I like ya and you seem like a decent fellow - even if you are, at times, temperamental. ;)

Hope this helps,

Shaggadelic

PS: Rangers will hopefully become a more desirable class in the forthcoming update. It is too early to tell what EXACTLTY will happen with the class (and things may change on a moments notice in Beta) but early reports seem to indicate that Rangers are one of the better PvP classes and you will be getting more buffs to bestow upon people (as will all classes, I believe). So keep up your training, stay positive, and be patient!

- If any class is spending a bunch on heal pots or idols or whatever pots... then you're missing something. It's called patience, teamwork and skill. I am sincerely amazed at the outright acceptance of people using large numbers of pots as a general part of game play.

Seriously, I use res idols on occasion but that's it. I guess I'm a little "old school" MMORPG.

For tanks to fight hard red bosses without any pots, that's a huge feat. Here on Epona (and I would assume all worlds) we don't really have tons of active druids. Usually the most online we can get for a Deadroot fight is about four to six. Even with five level 80 druids, good tanks will still die without potions. Sorry but the way the bosses are now, potions are kind of essential to the hard ones. (Deadroot, Shivercowl, Rockbelly, Spearhorn) We could just wait for a while for other druids to log on, but we all have lives you know. :p

Anyway, I appreciate your comment Zumuclyst. I see your point, but rangers don't need to use pots nearly as much as tanks (I hope you see why) and it's going to be that way for a while i think. :\

- Well it really depends on what I referred to previously; patience, teamwork and skill. It depends whether someone built a warrior into something other than a real tank who's only purpose is to be able to hold rock solid aggro and withstand as much punishment as a warrior can possibly stand or they built a lacking pile of pseudo dps crap. For instance: We have a REAL tank on Awarn (one of many) named Vinci (level 92) who with just (3) druids was able to tank Deadroot with no pots. He died approximately three times before remembering to equip his Lunar gloves and boots as opposed to the haste gloves and boots he was wearing originally. Deadroot became dead with no heal pots.

Prior to that, we were killing Deadroot on Arawn by using people from multiple clans, in large numbers, to take him down. Same with Rockbelly, Shivercowl etc.

Like I said, I'm old school Everquest and we got the job done using... you guessed it, patience, teamwork and skill.
