Re: What makes Epona stand out?
#3As I haven't really played on other worlds, I have no frame of reference to compare it to others. Suffice it to say, I have played on Epona since mid-to-late June, and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. I have seen many players, both good and bad (and sometimes a combination of the two) come and go, but the on the whole the good outweighs the bad and that is why I continue to play.
Let's make sure we all strive to keep it that way when the update finally drops (trust me it will come, I just don't know when...
) as these tumultuous times can put stress on clan/inter-clan and friend dynamics (read - drama
) We only have one Epona folks, let all try to get along! (Threads like these help
) I also would like to point out that from what I read on the forums and hear from some people, Epona is still one of the 'nicer' worlds going (sshhhh, don't tell anyone, lest interlopers come and try to change that
)
In addition to being the name of that awesome horse from Ocarina of Time, Epona is also an ancient celtic deity (as are all of the other server names, if I am not mistaken). Here is an excerpt from the wikipedia entry:

In addition to being the name of that awesome horse from Ocarina of Time, Epona is also an ancient celtic deity (as are all of the other server names, if I am not mistaken). Here is an excerpt from the wikipedia entry:
In Gallo-Roman religion, Epona was a protector of horses, donkeys, and mules. She was particularly a goddess of fertility, as shown by her attributes of a patera, cornucopia, ears of grain and the presence of foals in some sculptures[1] suggested that the goddess and her horses were leaders of the soul in the after-life ride, with parallels in Rhiannon of the Mabinogion. Unusually for a Celtic deity, most of whom were associated with specific localities, the worship of Epona, "the sole Celtic divinity ultimately worshipped in Rome itself,"[2] was widespread in the Roman Empire between the first and third centuries CE.
Re: What makes Epona stand out?
#4
I, who am extremely new to this game, am living in eternal hope that the secret to Epona's greatness is that it is named for that magnificent Celtic goddess who often took the form of a horse. And when NOT in equine form, was still the goddess of the equine race as much as she was of the human one. Is it beyond all realm of possibility that we might someday have (oh goddess, make it so!) actual mounts within the game, specifically horses?!?!

Thank you, ever so much, for any and all responses.

#5Horses will be available, but not until Update 4. We are all anxiously awaiting the release of update 3, which is currently (perpetually?) in beta testing...
