I really don't understand how any person with common sense can get scammed.
The only real way I can see someone lose their stuff is if a good, long-time friend asks to borrow something, and then keeps it.
Or if you get a good friend to transfer something, and they steal it.

Otherwise, I don't get how you can get scammed!
That one mil glitch may be convincing, but you should know that great deals don't exist.
If you get offered a crazy good deal, you have to be wary.

As I said, if you have common sense, then you won't get scammed.
It seems like people are lacking it nowadays.

Way to criticize them after all their stuff has just gotten stolen. Have some heart.

I can't speak for what Ky is saying, but whenever a scam happens to multiple people, there needs to be a reminder of what not to do. Not to criticize any player, but to warn others so it does not happen again. Making post criticizing these players or OTM doesn't help the community. Ky can say what he wants but he makes a good point when he talks about being vigilant. All players should remember:

1) Always be careful when dealing with new players who want to deal in large amounts of gold
2) If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. For example if someone offers you 1 mill for items that cost 500k in the lux shop, you should probably (morally) direct them to the lux shop, but also realize something is fishy here.
3) Do your own transfers if you have two devices. If you only have 1 go to a very trusted person. I've helped a lot of people I barely even knew by doing transfers for them. It's annoying but for new players who don't really know many people, it HELPS. Hoping more trusted older players will be willing to help out.
4) Really, trust noone if you can avoid it. Lot of us knew Zasa who pretended to be people's gf then scammed many players such as Crast, RR, Pro, and almost Cook. This is the internet and there are some sick people out there who will pretend to be your friend for a long time then scam you.
5) Be extra weary of account sellers. This is against the ToS and one of the easiest ways to get scammed.

Hopefully these tips can prevent more people from getting scammed and be of help.

I explain:
The man put an object in the trade , then 100 000g so you see 1000001 or 1074631...
The last number is just a little down but if you dont know the technic , you dont realize

I understand the first 10 who got scammed but now... Peeps are either stupid or lying cause everyone knows about it... They put an agate or something stackable next to gold...

Good rules your Majesty but there still remains the problem that 1) you should only transfer with a trusted person and 2) a scammer can work for months to become a trusted person then strike. See the catch 22 here?

And high level is no guarantee of safety.

OTM dropped the ball badly not having some simple transfer system in place soon after the problem was identified. I remember in late 2011, when I started in the game, that scamming was big news and not only the trade screen switcheroo which double trade confirmation fixed.

They should have delayed a festival a bit and, for example, made banks shared between your accounts or something like that. Yes i know mail is coming in this slooooowly arriving update but this has been a lost opportunity for OTM to build trust.


Lastly I agree that the Million Gold scam MAY rely in part on the victims greed but not always. As long as the price is above 1 million the lack of formatting on the number represents a danger. Many people trade 1 million and above for items. It can't be that rare for someone to say "here is all the money i have" so the gold amount is all uneven allowing that single fake digit at the end to slip in.

Yes we should all take time to check, then double check but that is the scammers art, to stop you doing that. "I need to log off so please be quick" etc. Also small screens increase the chance of a mistake or scam.
