I think most people, myself included, left only because no one was logging in anymore, and it was dead silent. Silence had Fallen, if there are any Whovians reading this. But good luck Q!
I think you left because of that, but i don't think the rest of the clan leave for that...

Them was such a beautiful clan.
+1 to tauri. And thats not the whole story. Them was indeed beautiful, Qs little porcelain doll. ;)

Dear Mr. Legendezz,

Well if I really think about it, and I have, there are too many reasons to single out just one why the certain little exodus happened. In the beginning, before i left briefly, there was dissension and drama, that started it. I thought it was petty but I was wrong. It blew up in just a few days. a few folks, some new to the clan and some old decided to leave at this time. No doubt there were those who had their sights set elsewhere for a long time others who just got tired of waiting to kill a dragon. I understand.
Then a trusted friend had pulled one over on me (or so it seemed) and demoted me and was apparently unilaterally deciding to steer the clan towards a tack that benefitted those who bickered the most. The clan, albeit briefly, was not the nice place I had envisioned. I had 2 options: Initiate a coup and knock out the individual who demoted me or take a walk and cool off. I am not vindictive so I took a breather. When I left it was personal. Why everyone started defecting after that is their on them. Yes, some left because they wanted more. Some got tired of the drama. Some just wanted to stick with a particular friend. Others got lonely once a handful of people left. It is what it is.
I worked out my differences with the individual who demoted me within 5 days and came back. I never joined another clan, I just went solo for a bit. I was devastated to see how many people so willingly dumped 9 months of hard work and joy over what boils down to about a week or so of upheaval. It hurts my heart to see them gone but I hope for their happiness. Such is life. It is just a game.
One thing really struck me when Clan them's expatriates largely chose one clan over others and it was how often players asked me "So, have you sold your soul to ____ yet?" It was this question that really struck a chord. It always had a negative connotation. Not once has anyone ever said "So, have you sold your soul to Them yet?" That makes me proud. Clan them churns out good people and a good vibe. I had no choice but to come back and take up the wheel again. That said, I hope the expats bring 100% of the spirit of Clan them with them to the clans they chose and help them tone down some of that negative stuff (like players who kill players in the arena for fun while the chief watches).
Clan them remains the "beautiful" clan it always was despite the migrant clannies. I would rather play the game alone than become some anonymous snorri camper in an end game clan…but that's just me. Glory means nothing in a game where everyone is anonymous. I just don't think that is as fun as training up a few new folks and inspiring a love of the game in fresh faces and new friends. That is what everyone knows Clan them for and that's what it shall continue to be.

Being the best clan on the server is not our goal, being the best people is.
Wish me luck!

Hi Quercos,

As a proud member of clan ___ (who still has his soul intact), I felt compelled to say a few words. ;)

While ___ is an endgame clan, we are not in the business of buying souls. We may have reluctantly accepted the souls of some who insisted, but that is not our mission.
I mean, what would one do with all those souls anyway???

___ is a clan of diverse individuals who have come together for diverse reasons. Many of our members relish the idea of being able to experience the entire game, beginning to end. ___ offers the possibility of experiencing the middle-to-end game in a fast-paced, yet friendly environment.

While being the best clan on the server may be one of our goals, we have no desire of gaining quantity while sacrificing quality.

Best of luck, Quercos! I have always been a fan of clan Them, and I wish you well. :D

Let me be clear: I am on friendly terms with Clan ___ however, while I was taking a brief break from Clan Them and then watching in horror as a few dear and previously loyal members took flight I ended up on the fence with whether or not to join Clan ___. Alas, it was the negative connotation that my non-Clan ___ friends had when they asked if I had gone to Clan ___ that made me stop and wonder "Why does Clan ___ have a such negative image?" My first and most important reason was this: One of your members (who I cannot mention due to rules) is notorious for killing folks in the arena for no reason (myself included). He has the Soli banner floating over his head as he brazenly and with apparent gusto shouts his loathing for all humanity and kills anything that can't kill him (though he hasn't been on much lately) . He starts arena clan wars. He does this as the chief sits nearby and watches oddly detached. It transmits to every player of every clan a negative sort of bully/psycho-killer image of both the member of the clan and the clan he is in. While a player like that should be shunned like the pariah he is instead coddled and protected. It makes Clan ___ look bad.
I would never allow a player like that in Clan Them no matter how valuable they were and that my friend Kril was why I chose not to come to Clan ___. Honestly, Abi, you, all my SoliThem's...there were so many reasons to come to Clan ___ but I cannot abide rubbing shoulders with a sociopathic dimwit and pretending it doesn't bother me. Call it whatever you will (Jedi stubbornness?), there's my reasoning.

And oddly enough I don't believe in souls. Selling my body and/or mind on the other hand, there I do have a price and I am for sale!

Q,
I understand and respect your position on this.
As a matter of fact, ____ recently kicked ____ for similar reasons to what you listed above.

The ____ banner no longer flies over his head, as it were.

My dear friend Q, although we have not played the game together on many occasions, I truly consider you one of my best friends in this game and outside of the game.
I must admit that many of your former clannies have come to join me after I asked them if they would like to come. They did not jump at the invitation right away and I suspect it was mainly due to one individual as you mentioned already. Most of them I suspect wanted to keep the good you instil in them and wanted to make sure they made the right decision and stayed together as a family, which you made them feel they were part of.
I have to tell you that I strongly believe most (if not all) did not come for the glory of being in an end-game clan as you first thought. They came because they believed they would continue to enjoy the game as they did in clan THEM.

Many people know now that I had an Alt in clan THEM, this was at your request for me to see the beautiful things you had done with your clan. I truly enjoyed being there and would often escape the drama of my own clan and log in on my alt so I could keep enjoying it.
I laugh and made friends there and really loved it.
I sent many people asking me to join my clan to clan THEM as I believe in you and what you had built.
Most of those people were not high enough in levels in my opinion for this end-game clan as you refer it.
I did not refuse them because I did not think they could help, but because I did not think we could help them as much as you and your clan could and I knew they would have more fun with you and your friends.
You are a man with a vision and nobody will ever be able to take that away from you.
I can honestly say I know exactly what you mean when you enjoyed seeing the people grow under your guidance. I once, with the help of a few others, helped rebuilt a clan that used to be one of the strongest on the server and had been left to die. We went from no active players to one of the top 10 clans on All servers in a very short time. It came with many bumps and several sacrifices, but in the end I made more acquaintances and friends.
I know you can do it, but if you ever need my help for anything, always know my door is always open and I shall always have time for a friend.
Cheers.

Well thanks Abi...got me all teary eyed now. :P
You have always been good to me and indeed have been a solid friend since LaV/Indi first introduced us. In fact it was that meeting long ago that forged the first bond between Clan ___ and Helter and then later with Them. Very few people know and/or understand just how many good folks are in Clan ___ and as you well know I was always a bit confused at how there seemed to be two very distinct facets of your clan. That however is an old conversation and I am glad to hear that "the player who shall not be named" has been shown the door.
It is no secret that the expats bring me sadness everyday I log in but Clan ___ doesn't have a place for the crazy wooden robot known as Quercos. Part hummingbird, part raccoon, I need to do my own thing and call most of the shots or I just don't have a good time. I will continue to train a new crop of awesome players and introduce them to the game we love with all the fun I have to muster. I am endlessly thankful for all the help you have provided over the seasons in Gwydion and I want you to know you too are one of my closest friends.
PS: Still gonna need your help killing AGGY!! I just want one of those damn black books and to say "I did it!" (Still never even seen the ole beast).
PSS: I have not asked any of the expats to come back and I don't intend to. However should they start pining for the old days or whatnot I wont say no. That said, you haven't made an appearance on your "secret alt" in awhile, don't be a stranger just because all the Them-ers you like best are now in Clan ___!
