Interesting that you mentioned goldeghost as being a compromised account. That was actually one of the names I had in the back of my mind as being potentially sketchy but didn't realize they could all be the same person. I encountered that person in my second week of playing on Morrigan, which I avoided because they openly discussed a desire to sell an account. They knew I was new to this world because I told them, and must have thought I would make a good target. One day someone seemingly different in personality was logged into that account claiming to be that persons sister and said that their brother gave her permission to sell the account for gold to equip her own character. They kept asking me to buy an account (even offered me the whole clan) and I promptly pulled out of that clan, which may not even exist anymore but I'm not certain.
I'm sure you are probably on this Keri, but I would warn other Dub members/leaders that 'Romi' is a compromised account. I don't remember if he has general or guardian status still, but there are quite a few legitimate first time players in that clan who could be target prey for this scammer personality. Especially since so many are struggling to get warden gear and looking to invest in quartz items and OW lux...the first big investments that go into a character. My druid is in that clan but I haven't been doing any serious leveling with her lately, so I don't know if everyone has been informed. I did see a mage (can't remember the name) yesterday in Farcrag claiming to be Romi stating that the Romi account was compromised.
A general trend I'm noticing of these scammer personality types is that they level a character to a certain point, usually high enough to get OW access so they seem somewhat committed to the game and powerful. They start a clan and invite people anywhere between lvls 30-60. Look to see who is struggling for gear or who may be willing to buy plat, and try to bait and switch people from there. I've never actually been scammed by someone in a game but I'm usually pretty good at detecting when something seems off about someone. Whoever this scammer is they are rather sloppy because I've actively leveled three different characters this past month, and I've been solicited for items or to buy an account on all three by the same people. If they don't start their own clan and are successful at infiltrating an established large one like Dub, it is usually bad news for the unsuspecting new player looking for someone to trust.
Even if the slate were wiped clean of all these accounts there is nothing to stop someone from creating a new account and scamming someone again. It's always best to know the signs and use caution. I've been on a huge Law & Order kick so my MMO forensic psychology is in high gear.
