And the item hogs strike again

#1
Being a proud member of acients i have seen my fair share of item hogging going on along with greedyness y is it when people get certain items and someone needs y is the first thought that 00pops in your head is how much can i over charge and make from item i personally call alot of people friends in lugh and try to help everybody and truthfully the reason i priced the radiant bp i had for so high is beacuse i really didnt wanna sell and honestly certain people bugged me so much i gave away to clan member with the one promise of it staying in clan!! Ok so y am i am here beacuse everybody wonders y everything cost so much well its because everybody that want to be greddy drives up the prices truthfully im just venting but im getting tired of u item hogs and over pricers it is uncalled for do u thing all servers do this no i have been to almost all of them only a few r like this so wake up and lets make lugh a better world so we could hopefully get more new players

Unfortunately there are always gonna be people that take advantage of what they have that other ppl need. It happens on all MMO's. I have had to go through this myself when I got my meteoric. I bought 2 of my mind tabs for 30k and under but I needed one that I could only find from one person for 40k. Overpriced for Druid mind? Yes! But I needed it so I bought. There's no way to really combat this so if you need it you're gonna have to dish out the cash for it. Only thing I can say is if it's being sold in clan and they're overcharging then they need to be reminded that clans work together to become stronger and they need to remember that when u get a drop that they need then they need to consider the discount that you'll give them. As far as outside of clan goes... Just remember what they charged you and overcharge them. I got back what I needed by selling the same person that sold me a 40k Druid mind a rogue mind for 45k. Wasn't trying to overcharge them. Just remembered how they overcharged me... Remember if you paid a certain price for something... There's gonna be a price based on what they charged you.

The auction house should solve this. It will bring the customers to the merchants.

Max all i can say is you are lucky, i had to spend 60k+ on my minds each and spaces were just the same, prices have plummeted and i think that 40k is a fair price for any mind now. If it was a space i would be complaining, but alas i see thoro's opinion, but we all wanted that item just because it is so rare personally i did offer over what its worth, but i didnt pester like i know a few would, although lately people that are in need of certain items, like rings or crests will offer higher than normal price just so they obtain it quicker which in turn will raise prices. Its price fluctuation, it happens with everything, originally moons were 10k, but now they have dropped to a measely 500g or even free, understand its not just the sellers but a combination of the buyers. I sell all my items cheap to friends and even cheaper to clannies i occasionally give away a few drags to help our clan, not everyone is greedy some just need money others are selling for what may have been normal pricing before. I do not know how this auction house works but i hope it does stop the people selling items at rediculous prices but it wont stop people buying that high, if 2 people desparatly want the item. Especially a piece of radiant armour.

40k max?? is that it? I've spent 100k on jus 1 freakin mind, plus nowa days prices are gone down silly..... how does a 100k item go down to 40k? aswell as 30k!! common guys we need to realize just because it's easier for us to get doesn't make it that it should be cheaper now.
Look at it this way...... No metoric....... no frozen....... so that's how important metoric is, ppl now are spending merely 100-200k on their metoric and complain, wen ppl in the past spent over 600k on metoric, honestly that makes me sick.

Ok Thoro, i am trying to come up with a coherent response.

first, let's distinguish between quest items and rare/powerful items (like radiant bp)

Rare/powerful items:
there is no regular pricing for this. all depends on how much someone wants it. A royal natures touch ring you may be able to sell for a lot, or you may just want to get rid of it since you cant use it. Further, you might sell it cheap to a druid you group with since it will ultimately benefit you when he heals you. As for Radiant BP. if you want to keep it, then keep it. Don't feel pressured to let someone else use it or to even sell it cheap. you are entitled to make your character powerful too. You got lucky, and that is allowed. I would get it back if i were you. Don't let someone bully you.

Quest Items:
Many of these are hard to get, so it is ok to sell them to clan members. People who get minds and spaces have likely put in some good camping time, or at least making time to check on the bosses regularly. They have spend on idols in the fights too. Aniunderking posted a good set of in-clan out-clan pricing to act as a guideline.

As for selling out of clan, sure anything goes. I tend to sell cheap (like clan price or better) to my out of clan friends. I often get things very reasonably priced from these same people. When someone tries to sell something for too high a price, I just tell them no thank you, that i only have $xxx to spend on it, and if they don't want that (or some other trade) that i will just wait and get it the old fashioned way (i.e. camping and killing the boss).

For items you really have a tough time getting and there is no reliable source (like an iron goblet) - well anything goes for that.

As for item hogging: i guess i am guilty of that. I keep lots of strange objects in my bank - and often times they come in useful. A spare fairy diamond may help me in a trade for a ring i really want. Or for an alt i start up. I will generally sell most spare rems and tabs i get for good prices - but i tend to hold onto the harder to get stuff. Maybe its greedy, maybe its wise - but i killed the boss and deserve to keep something if i think it might benefit me in the future.

I guess the one major benefit of being in a clan like Ancients, is that if you need something, there is almost always a group ready to help you kill the boss that drops it (giving you a chance at the drop). Unfortunately, it can take a while if you don't want to spend too much money on drops. Especially for warriors (rangers and mages get stuff cheap :-) )

This is a difficult theme, i find.

At one hand I would very much like a system where I give away everything I dont immediately need to my clanmates and friends, and where i get everything I need for free from my clanmates and friends.

My experience is that it doesnt work like that, and I would feel extreemely foolish if I first gave away a +4 ring of rapid shot (or whatever) for free, to end up not affording to pay the 10-15 k or so a clanmate would charge med for a similar ring of pummel.

I have ended up in a situation where I do not like to charge money from clanmates for items, but rather try to find out if a trade is possible. I give you what you need, you give me something i need. I do not really care about the list price (if such exixts) for the respective items, but i just find it a lot more useful to do trades like this.

I also dislike spending time advertising (shouting) items I have for sale.

Therefore I have tons of things I dont need in my inventory and in my bank. Guess that makes me a hogger;-)

I would really like to see a clan pool of items and a world auction system. An auction system is up to OTM to create and a clan pool would demand someone to take charge of the items and do the trades.

the new auction house seems cool. i hope they give us the option of an 'in clan' lower price. or to allow people to offer a trade so you can say 'i have a +4 pummel ring - 8k or +4 rapid fire'.
