Re: Regarding Necro

...so why not just include them in the planning of the raid?
As stated by cecil in this very post, in the past the planning on a larger scale has been attempted, and it has failed. This is mainly due to the sheer amount of people who ignore and do not adhere to the required actions that NEED to be correctly followed within the fight to ensure it is smooth and successful. A simple example of this is those who do not run from lifesteal when they AREN'T in a group with a druid and/or are full dl, or those that pull ghosts towards the boss or let them through.

With a single group of people, of which ALL are willing to listen and to follow a single layed out plan without any deviations, it is much easier at this point in time to succeed, and that way there is no worry for any screw ups or mishaps.

Another reason is those that are unwilling to alt and rebirth for their given roles, or to pop lixes to aid in the fight, some may think this unnecessary, but this alone has been the exact reason for numerous fails in the past, with those unwilling to follow a game plan being a contributor.
Why not call those people out on it and if they still dont listen then exclude them. Excluding everyone else for this reason yh im not buying it.
OP said they planned the encounter themselves then when it came it you were surprised to see people not following the plan? Lol...ok nice logic mate. You aint fooling anybody here they knew what they were doing from the start or they would have told them they were going to be excluded from rolling

I can understand that someone who do not follow the plan can undermine the chance of success. I do not, however, see how the extensive efforts put in by all players of Lugh through numerous Necro attempts is not part of the "great costs" described initially in this post. Everybody have taken these costs, and all these attempts have paved the way towards the current plan of action. This is a joint investment in Lugh. When it comes to the material costs of alting, lixing etc, this seems like a proper use of the non-diced cash drops received by lock group.

To the extent that the fight in question was by most outsiders present perceived as a normal boss fight with normal boss rules, where no change of dicing conditions or tactics were proclaimed before the fight started, I find it hard to accept the argumentation for why LostGirl, who from what I understand did everything whe would be ewpected to do, was denied her drop. The bottom line is not that she was not part of the planning of the fight, but that she, due to being member of the wrong clan, was denied the chance of participating in the planning.

I have heard good arguments for limiting participation in a Necro fight to a well-informed group, but i find no resonance of those arguments in the denying LG her drop. This makes me wonder if the good arguments regarding the organisation only constitute a fig leaf used to cover the wish to keep good drops within the group.

I sincerely wish to be proven wrong regarding the last point, and that this proof is represented by LG getting her due drop and that players present before grouping for Necro fights and who understand their role, will be included regardless of clan.

I also hope that any players who intentionally sabotage these fights are reported to their respective clan leaders. Ancients do not play childish games of obstruction.

ah, so i guess i mis-understood axon when he said that 'lock' was at group formation and that others were allowed to join, they just had to contact him to be part of the planning.

Well, Lugh - we had a good run. From update 3 until now we avoided the 'might makes right' paradigm that so many servers seem to have. Our way was slower, messier, but ultimately, I think, made a far more pleasant playing environment. There many times that the more powerful clans thought about excluding others to make things easier or faster - but we always avoided that temptation. I would like to think that everyone always thought they had the right to fight and dice - not that the top clans were simply tolerating them. We (the more powerful clans and active players) often were the driving force behind new rules and systems on Lugh, but we always tried to make them inclusive; it was about allowing people to play the way they wanted with rules that created some modest efficiency, were straightforward, and easy to implement. There were many people who were not good fits for our clans - but were great people - and they were able to advance just as easily as generals in the most powerful clans. the system was never perfect, no system is, but it was consistent enough that everyone relied on it without even thinking about it.

I am saddened, though not surprised, by the slow death of the system we built. It was not easy to create and often difficult to maintain. It relied on the goodwill of the power players and clans to see that it was worth saving. Obviously, at least for now, the power dynamics of Lugh have changed radically (ironically, that happened quite easily because of the very policies that are starting to erode now).

If i return, hopefully i will still be allowed to roll for runes - though i have heard grumbling, from some, that people who are not active enough shouldn't be allowed to roll for them... guess we will see.

I would also like to add that the statement above will not have any impact on the dicing rules of Lugh for any other boss in the game. We have no intention of excluding players from bosses that are being killed routinely and without extensive planning. Cecil
I am not sure how you are misinterpreting ax's statement. Good luck on your break, see you when you return!

sounds like cecil is trying to cover up the fact that they let them fight, lix, waste their stuff on the fight for nothing. It doesn't sound fair that they didn't even tell the people that were being excluded that they were being excluded before they wasted their time fighting.

They were allowed to roll but they weren't allowed to win anything.
LostGirl participated in the fight from the beginning, diced and won a ranger brace. However, she was not allowed to have the brace.

She also did not lix, use skills, or assist with ghosts when they got loose.
