I am glad we are having this discussion. I was under the impression that melee had to be withing 10 levels while casters had to be within 15. It seems that we decided to keep druids within 15 and mages within 10 levels of the boss. If the damage nerf is similar for melee and casters this seems reasonable to me.
Now the tricky part. If we want to include support mages that are 15 levels below the boss, how do we define a support mage? Just lures? Which lures (all of them)? Lures with eboost? Do they need to have sacrifice as well? How many support mages can come to the fight? What about hybrid mages?
I think we have been handling this on a case by case basis so far, but as the OP pointed out this can lead to confusion.
