Ancients FAQ: A bit about the clan

#1
Hello,

I am Toycat, the chieftain of Ancients in Lugh world, and I would like to tell you a bit about Ancients clan to answer FAQ.

1) We are a clan of friends mostly and as such we behave.
- Most of us play for a long time and know each other well.
- We are playing for the fun with friends and as such we do not exploit others for personal profit.
- If we can, we help each other and we do it because we want to and not because someone told us so.
- We respect each other not for the player level or amount of money/items/gold but for the person itself.

2) We help the clan to grow naturally.
- We do not force the clan to grow by hiring many strangers.
- We want clan members who care for the clan and contribute to the clan out of their free will.
- We regularly contribute to clan bank with our leftovers to gather free resources for new members or new alts of existing members.

3) We support the clan.
- We share if we can.
- We do not like opportunists who want everything free but then trying to sell everything high. Those will not be in clan for long for sure.
- We do not have nor want a clan economics powered by huge gold transfers from one clan member to another.
- We mostly have friendly prices in clan or you can get even commonly available stuff free in clan.
- The support for the clan came out naturally from "I help you, you help me" and no one is forced to do so.
- It is natural that some players cannot buy plats so those of us who can try to support the clan with plat-only items from time to time.
- We do not sell quest items out of clan, we keep either supply those who need it or keep it ready for lower levels when they are high enough.

4) We try to supply our higher levels first.
- This has nothing to do with putting one before others and you have to understand it well.
- This came out naturally out of reason and our clan members agreed on that.
- We think it is better not to hoard items you cannot use for many levels yet, it is better to pass the items to those who can use it so the can help all better.
- Powerful players help less powerful players to progress much cheaper and faster overall.
- This requires you to be patient a bit because everyone cannot have everything now.
- This goes especially for end bosses who require quite a lot of resources to defeat.
- You will not be forced to do so but if you do not like it or you feel bad about doing it you should consider other clans where they live from selling and buying stuff heavily.
- More about the matter in Akbar's post here: http://www.celtic-heroes.com/forum/view ... 22&t=40188

5) We do not like nor tolerate:
- Scammers.
- Ksers.
- Rude people.
- Mean people.
- Raging people.
- Greedy people.
- People telling lies.
- People trying to kill everyone "just for the fun".
- Racists or religious fanatics.
- Swearing, especially in the clan chat or shouts.
- Annoying people or people who spam with requests.
- Whining people. If you are low do not whine about that and do not ask high levels to nurse you. We all were low and had to work hard for our way up.
- Childish behavior. It does not matter what age you are but we do not want members who constantly argue or complain over petty things.

6) DO NOT try to join us if:
- You just want to be in a powerful clan.
- You just want to try if you fit in our clan.
- Your friends told you that you should join, but you are undecided.
- You want to get rich by selling items that the clan helped you get.
- You seek personal profit through a solid base of clan members.
- You seek someone to help you quickly level up.
- You have nowhere else to go.
- You did bad things and no one likes you.

7) We want only members who truly want to be in our clan for the clan and people in it itself.
- We generally do not invite unknown people and even then we like you to be level 100 minimum and preferably level 130 to show us you know the game and that you mean it.
- There may be exceptions to the level rule but do not expect to join us automatically when you ask.
- Once you are in you can also join all your alts if you want to.
- We do not require all your alts to be in our clan, you may have alts in other clans if you like to and the other clan allows it.

8) Clan ranks are not automatic.
- Do not ask about promotion.
- The only automatic rank is Clansman currently at level 130.
- New members may stay Recruits for some time even if higher than 130.
- Generals and guardians are promoted on need-to bases and mostly as a reward for a continuous contribution to the clan.
- Generals may promote, demote, invite, or remove clan members as they see fit. Be sure that they have a good reason for it if they do so do not argue about that with them.
- Guardians should consult any promotions, demotions, invites, or removals with a general first. Generals usually know a larger view or they bring it to me if they are unsure so everyone is treated fairly.
- Generals and guardians are proven and trustworthy people who earned their rank so you should show some respect to them.
- Generals and guardians can help you to be sure that clan prices, trades, and interactions between you and other clan members are fair.
- You can ask generals or guardians for an advice or a consult if you are undecided.
- Generals and guardians have not only power but also responsibility that the clan runs smoothly and those who need get help.
- We do not want a clan of generals and guardians so if you are not one of them there is no reason to be sad about it. Everyone is treated the same.
- Ranks are assigned by people, not accounts. So if you are a general, you may ask to promote all your alts to be generals no matter what level are they.

Any comments are welcome.

Toy, you are the best chief a clan can have. Though it pains me, i have finally decided to spead my wings and quit the game entirely. If you are reading this thoro, i would just like to thank you for all you have done. Im gonna miss being an ancient. Maybe in a few years i could return. Keep on being number 1 clan people.

Just a quick question as its been bugging me for a few days now. you mention in your post that the Ancients do not tolerate "greedy people". now I have nothing against those that merch, because i believe merching is the easiest way to make money, but why say the Ancients dont tolerate greedy people when so many of them are? this goes for all clans and people, not just your clan. i know of one person in your clan who is a level 180+ who used to sell frags for like 5k over their going rate. that person also sold grand rings for 15k (not good ones either). as ive said others are guilty of it too. back in update 3 a pair of heroic gloves would go for around 100-110k. 120k would be a high amount to sell for but you could get that if you were patient. well many of those die hard players would demand 125-130k which is insane if you think about it. perhaps the funniest of all is that these higher lvl toons basically frown upon these poor low level merchants who try to make a buck because they charge a higher rate for an item or try to get a deal on something. many of these top toons look down on these guys and girls for being "greedy" when some top toons are the biggest crooks of them all. being greedy is totally fine to a point. nothing wrong with trying to make a buck. but higher level toons should NEVER rip off and take advantage of the poor players. theres high prices and then theres rip off scammer prices. come on 15k for a grand freeze ring or 20k for a drag (when 15k), doesnt make sense. wake up! grand rings (4-10k), elms (now 10k), start charging normal prices, or at least take down the greedy rule so i dont have to rant lol.

as always thanks Toy, this is not a shot at you just addressing an issue that needs addressing.

sincerely,

Steak aka Raijin

@Mysteryman

Afaik, no one in Ancients is ripping off anyone. Killing most bosses costs idols and restos aka plats aka money. Sometimes a lot of them. And mostly only bosses drop good stuff. Also some drops are more rare. And some require 1-2 strong groups for 1-3 drops, usually only 1 drop is worth it. Also, and I want to stress that here, there are 2 kinds of items. The quest ones you need for your character to progress. And the rest which you do not really need. Most of the good ones fall into the second group.

Some items don't even have a set price because it is hard to assess the right price so it may basically be like: I sell it for 300k. Naah, that's too much, I offer 150k. Ok, how about 220k. Ok, deal.

I saw many lower levels accusing higher levels for being greedy because they refused to sell them for a low price. But if you would know there are like tens of people looking for a dragon frag would you sell it to an unknown guy for 15k or to another unknown guy who offers 25k? Also you can negotiate and most sellers/buyers are open to alter their price a little. You might still be selling for the highest reasonable price but that does not mean you ripped someone off. Or if you buy something cheap does that mean you ripped the seller off too? Or were you lucky that you found what you needed for a good price?

I have a hunch who you might be referring to but don't mistake business skills with greed. If you want or need to sell or buy fast, you may sell for a lower price or buy for a higher price. If you have a plenty of time and opportunities to sell or buy an item you sell or buy better. Also if you are referring to those I think then you should know that these 180+ players never bought plats yet they managed to be amongst the best on server.

To sum it up, greed is when you know your friend/clannie needs something he needs to progress but you rip him off his best items for what you selling. Greed is not if you sell dragon frag for 25k when the common price is 15-25k.

i understand and i agree with what you are saying. i just still feel that some higher level players will take advantage of lower level players and sell drops for much much more. i guess in a game like this anything goes and technically non shop drops can be sold for any amount. i just want the general population to know that they should get a consensus from other players on the value of an item before purchasing. ask around before hitting the check button. ive just seen too many bad deals in my short time playing. as for the toons in end game clans, please be respectful of merchants and players regardless of level. i do not know how many times i was accused of being a scammer, rip off, or whatever for making an offer on a non shop drop. if a price is off base a simple "no thanks" would be more appropriate as many players do say. just a select few who name and shame.

most importantly just remember to have fun in the game, and to be conscientious... and Toy thanks for the response! lastly, i want to stress again that i am not taking a shot at the Ancients despite posting this in an Ancients thread. this is a message for everyone...

Best regards to all!

just to add real quick,

negotiating prices is fine as both seller or buyer. if someone offers over the going rate for an item , then i have no problem if the seller accepts the offer. this is a fair trade in my eyes if both parties agree. just personally if drags went for 15k i would only sell for 15k unless someone offered more. most likely a person would offer more if it was an item i wasnt selling. otherwise if a person asked how much i would simply state 15k (and not offer). just my opinion. as a seller i only set up to the max going rate for a non event drop. event items are an entirely different story. prices can be insane for event drops but they dont have any real set value.

since no one is ever required to make a deal, if someone's price is too high, then just dont deal. I set my price, people are free to accept or decline. also, the same drop can be worth vastly different prices to different people. i have a grand ring of light heal. so a royal ring isnt that awesome - but to another ranger who has a crystal ring, it might be worth quite a lot. I will pay much more for the last item in a quest (my last drag frag) than i would for the first.

if the prices were too out of bound, the seller would never sell. but if people are impatient and willing to spend more to get it fast - then that seller may simply be shrewd. Your frustration doesnt make someone else greedy. Or, i should say, that type of greed does not rise to the level of unacceptable in our clan.

also, that type of selling should not be confused with scamming - which is entirely different. Scamming is a dishonest trade or agreement in which someone is tricked and loses.
