Imposter/Scammer ALERT

#1
Someone has been pretending to be Callator and asking to borrow items. Callator has 1 Character and will NEVER ask to borrow items. If anyone claims to be from 'exultantis' and tries to borrow anything please say NO and let me know about it. You can Kik me @ virulent. (Include period) if im not online.

This person has had at least two attempts, they will whisper you with an account name real close to Callators name, including the capital C. They asked to meet another character (lvl 1) and then when you get there ask to borrow items. The real Callator would NEVER do such a thing. Please be cautious on any trade.

We had a rash of this behavior a while ago, so until it is stopped, we should not assume anyone is who they say they are unless we can see them. Ask to meet in person and they should be the right level, wearing the right armor, etc.

We all get complacent sometimes. I always tell my people not to lend anyone items they cant afford to lose. Ive read stories on here where best friends have turned on each other. Once an item is traded, no matter who that person is, there is potential for loss. So, thanks again Lugh for your help in this matter. Stay vigilant.

Add Divine and Callumallen to the list of imposters. DO NOT trade or lend items to high level players without absolute certainty. Most wont even ask to borrow to begin with.

To Remind You: Clan exultantis has been instructed NOT to borrow/lend and ive cautioned against trading for now but have not banned it. Any questions? Ask myself or the REAL Callator, Randall2, MagicM, or Spigot.

Hello,

Read very carefully!

It seems like scammers can now fake ANY account in chat throught some sort of a script.

In your own interest ALWAYS visually check the account, clan, and level if someone asks you for items.

Also be careful with invites. If you are inviting alts, ALWAYS ask to log on main account and VISUALLY confirm that the main is logged in. If you do not have a visual be sure that YOU initiate whisper to confirm an identity using either clan list or friends list. Replying to a message is NOT good enough because whisper can be faked and you would only reply to the scammer who happily confirms that you can "absolutely trust" his other level 1 account and give him your 1 million items.

Also two new scammer techniques appeared:

1) hosting a dice game (or other gambling) - this scammer just takes your money and you wont win anything
2) there was a guy who was telling people that he was doing a trust video where you give him your 1 million items and he will give them back capturing all this for youtube - if you are fool enough and you give that guy your items you never see them again

And to sum up old tricks:

3) scammer wants to try an item for a bit - you wont see it again
4) scammer is whispering to you that he is someone else and that he wants to borrow some items for a bit - you wont see the items again
5) scammer is telling you he could double (tripple, etc) your gold - this is nonsense and you will not see your gold again
6) same as 5) but the scammer has a friend or he actually doubles a small amount (like 50g) to look more serious but then he scamms when someone gives him considerable amount
7) scammer is threatening you to be kicked out of a clan if you do not give him some gold or items
8) scammer is asking you to give him something in advance promising he pays from another account
9) same as 8) but the scamer fakes whisper from a trustworthy account to confirm that you can "absolutely trust" the other account

Hope this helps you NOT to be scammed.

How did you find out about this "script"???

Re: Imposter/Scammer ALERT

@Basalt I have been told on Saturday at Hrunghir about the possibility of a script.

Yesterday I have experienced myself that a guy level 1 sneaked into my clan (did not find who invited him yet) and tried to persuade me that he was Callum so I make him a guardian. I kicked that guy right away. Btw, it was the same guy who was luring one of my clannie to the trust video mentioned before.

Obviously, I cannot post account names here, but I try to point you to the name by telling you that it was a name with Celtic and Trust in the account name in case you met that guy.

Anyway, the point is that it seems that any whisper could be faked unless the game developers patch it. I could only guess that a jailbroken device and some sort of a script altering communication may be involved.
