Hello again, Heroes!
Just a quick update at the moment as we’re literally on the edge of our seats waiting for approval from Apple so we can release the Destiny Engine Open Beta. The response has been fantastic so far but you can still get in to the Beta program by visiting here: http://www.tfaforms.com/352246
Please bear in mind that you need to have iOS 8 installed on your device to be eligible for this (Don’t worry if you haven’t got a device that supports iOS 8, you should still be able to download the game when it’s released).
All of those that have signed up keep a careful eye on your inboxes as you should be receiving a mail very soon. You’ll also be able to get a sneak peek at the new Yule content (well, some of it. We’re holding a few choice items back from you to keep you in suspense) and the seasonal changes that have occurred in Lir’s Reach.
The new Testflight system from Apple is working out to be a very handy feature of iOS 8. In the past it’s been quite a complicated and limiting process to get a beta program up and running and making any changes to it once it is running can be fraught with headaches. The new system allows us many more testing places and a lot more flexibility when it comes to assigning testers.
This first Open Beta we want the testers to use existing accounts and see how our character migration has gone. It looks good from our end with Quest Logs and Inventories matching up across the old and new infrastructure but of course there are always a few things that we might miss in real-world testing. This is where you guys come in; take a look at the Quest Logs and tell us if you notice anything strange. Perhaps you’ll notice a Quest marked as incomplete when you know you’ve done it or vice-versa. Also keep an eye on your inventories and currency amounts to make sure they’ve all carried across okay. Don’t worry too much if you do notice anything that’s gone astray your live account will still be intact and the account you test with on the Open Beta won’t be the one that gets carried over when we release the full game. Any progress you make on the Open Beta servers won’t be carried over either. Also take a look at your Bank and Mailboxes to make sure they’re as they should be.
Of course as some of our veterans have been playing for a few years they are in an ideal position to look at the end-game content and loot for us as well. When we released the Android Betas we had a lot of people testing the start of the game and now we need some eyes on the later stages.
Whatever you can do if you have an ios 8 device, dive in and give us your feedback and details of any issues you might find. We’ll be opening up a devoted forum as soon as we’ve got approval.
If you’re an Android user then don’t fret; we will be running an Android Yule beta very soon so you can join in the fun too.
Hopefully we’ll have an update for you all very soon.
Until then; Onward Heroes!
P.S. I’ll just leave this here :) Take a look at an animation test we did for the Living Statues that you’ll soon be facing in Gelebron’s Tower here:
