Re: Knucks for all classes...

#21
The reason I suggested mage/druid knuckle blades is because it would be cool to have a metal claw weapon and to use punching attacks during the spell cool downs. Mages and Druids do not add strength to their builds so any actual melee they do will be a joke compared to a melee class. I'm not looking to give the casters a way to be a melee toon. I just think knuckle blades get my geek gene going ;)

Plus if you add mage/druid specific bonuses to the knuckle blades it would only help to increase their effectiveness as ranged elemental DPS and healer. It is good to know however that mages and druids can use tomes as a h2h weapon thus making the h2h skill worth acquiring and ranking.

I now understand what you are probably talking about.
You are talking about skill hits, not auto hit.

Yes, my skull hits are massive, but that was not my original point.
I am talking about auto hits and the all class weapons training novelty

We can start on rangers using rapid shot with knuckles if needed.

Answering the question in your second paragraph first: yes, the main hand books are H2H weapons.

I can't speak about the blackstone knucks, but the quartz and diamond knucks for rogue/ranger do not give any class specific bonuses. Beyond their speed and pierce damage, they only give a bonus to H2H ability.

Going back to the original suggestion of creating knucks for all classes, I think this is a great idea. And not just because, contrary to BlueFenix's belief, I play my main druid with significant STR/DEX and a lot of melee. For spellcasters, knucks would give a reasonable way to train H2H before they hit level 110 and are able to equip the lowest level main hand books that I've seen : the Dark Grimoires from Aggragoth.

Aleph, I would love to see your build stats and equipment/skills list for your druid. I am trying to level one and I just can't seem to get into it. He is lvl 12 with the totem skill (DeathsKnight helped me get to Stonevale to get to the trainer). The bulk of my game time is playing solo.

BlueFenix, as an experiment last night I rebirthed my main druid (was level 135, now level 136) to move all strength points (was 45, is now 5) into focus, and move a few other points around as well. This was to play around with a spell damage and h2h build.

Stats are:
  • str: 5(20)
  • dex: 100(115)
  • foc: 400(515)
  • vit: 200
Skills:
  • natures touch: 30(35)
  • storm touch: 30(35 or 39) previous build was 21
  • lightning: 30(34) previous build was 28
  • vines: 30(34)
  • bark: 20(24) previous build was 30
When levelling I have 39 storm and 20 bark. For bossing I usually remove all the damage rings and equip buff or healing rings as I have grand rings for almost all druid skills.

For levelling equipment I am trying this:
  • golden helm of severity
  • radiant bp
  • heroic gloves
  • heroic boots
  • master's grimoire (previous build was usually golden trident of ice)
  • no weapon (previous build was usually frozen icon)
  • frozen leggings
  • greater earthstone blackthorn necklace
  • royal wyrmclaw bracelet (+15 str/dex/foc)
  • royal poison bracelet (+8)
  • camo charm
Note that none of the +dmg gear gets a str multiplier. I've moved all of that to my rogue. Eventually I'll acquire one of the Aggragoth main hand books, at which point I will reassess the build.

This build is taking down mobs faster than my previous build which had higher str/lower foc. However, any build that uses high damage spells is energy intensive. To put this in perspective, storm touch at 39 takes over 600 energy to cast, out of a total energy pool of just over 3k. I have a ton of sigils to compensate.
