Hi there, we got asked a lot to change rapid shot so that putting in more points would have more effect, so now you can get it lasting longer with more points.

We also made the cast time shorter and reduced the energy cost to around half what it was previously.
The skill feels much worse. The recast seems longer and my attack speed sucks.

Well I do loose the kill to rangers a lot on my mage. Rangers at or below my level. And ya rangers didn't have to put many in rapid shot to get a huge increase in dps. I am all for nerfing rapid but rapid is a drop in the bucket compared to bolas, which really gives certain clans huge advantage.

If otm changes a skill that effects us, give us an alt book or two to figure out how to rebuild. Because if you don't you force us to buy alt books that we never would have needed to buy.
Nerfed Mage ~140
Why play a class where skills cost more than other classes for same damage?
Why play a class with no auto attack?
Why play a class with 1/3 the armor?
Why play a caster?

Copy this sig! :)

Respectfully, this is NOT a complaint, just a plea to provide good and fair information about changes to existing skills.

I agree that to change an existing skill that has a direct effect on a player build without some sort of warning/compensation is very disheartening. There are many of us that did spend money on plat to purchase Books of Alteration to fine tune the skills to work in the best way. This is the second update in which character skills have changed in some manner. In the first, OTM graciously gave a free Book of Rebirth and a Book of Alteration to each character. However, due to the ambiguity in skill descriptions, it took most people several books per character to find the right balance.

So, how does Rapid Shot really work now?
For each skill point we add, what do we get in shoot time?
What is the recharge period and is it affected by the number of skill points or is it fixed?

Are there other changes in skills across classes?

How about a full list of every change for this version so we can all see what we are up against and how much it will cost to rebuild all of our characters?

I really enjoy this game sometimes and would love to know the rules and errata.

The cool down on rapid shot is now a fixed time so no matter what lvl rapid shot is u have the same time to wait from castig the skill to recasting the skill. Each point u invest in the skill now increases the time of the skill but doesnt increase the time from casting to recasting. So at lvl 1 u cast rapid shot the cool down is roughly 45secs till ucan reuse the skill during that 45 secs 8 of which ur hastes now if u increase the skill lvl that 8 secs goes up but it never goes over 45 secs otherwise u would have haste for 100% of the time.

Rapid shot should be a group buff , and should have a set recast time of 15 seconds , adding points should increase duration of spell without changing recast timer .
If i understand what u mean ur talking about from the time the skill effect ends to the time u recast it this should be 15 secs? This would be fair and the group buff would be amazing.

Exactly , so it's never possible to be rapid all the time , I believe it should be a group skill because ranger has fallen far behind rogue and Mage in terms of dps and a clear path of support would be awesome for rangers , we have some nice support skills already , aoe rapid shot would be perfect .

Thank you for the good information, Yilley.

So basically, if you want to use Rapid Shot in concert with all of your other skills, you need to do the math on recharge times and use an Alt book to move skill points around to balance the 45sec timer. Overall, this will reduce the effectiveness of a Ranger that used other skills such as Sharp Shot and Barbed Shot together because the number of skill points is limited.

On previous ranger builds, I had set things up for a round robin barrage:
Bolas -> Barbed -> Sharp -> Rapid -> Sharp -> Bolas -> (etc.)
Rapid Shot was tuned to fill the space and reset close to time to hit it again. The math probably will not work out that way with the fixed recharge time. At the very least, many more points will need to go into Rapid Shot and will take away from other skills making them less effective or possibly unusable.

This might be a lesson to those who asked OTM to change this. Be careful what you ask for...
