Re: Rangers in decline?

Lol, if a mage becomes dps, they can get the kill on any 6* boss over a rogue. Fire mages were nerfed, but Ice mages were made a bit better. I've seen ice mages get kills over geared rogues, and over fire mages. Mages are OP dps compared to other classes once they get end game.
There is hardly ever a time when a mage gets a kill on Morrigan. Put a rondel in the kill group and you already know whose getting the kill. Have just a ranger and mage kill group, ranger wins every time.

Personally my thinking behind the possible decline in rangers is there is simply not enough diversity with class skills. Sure rangers have two great buffs, but other then auto you just sit there…I made a rogue when shadow strike came out because I wanted to lunge across rooms killing stuff. They have tons of quick or insta cast skills which makes them very popular. I enjoy pvp quite a bit and rangers have and always will be at a disadvantage. I've spent far to much time into my ranger to just end the chapter and close the book on him, but I do wish OTM would look at the ranger class with a new perspective and make it more enjoyable than it is now.

Because as others said, the dragonlord just makes it the better option to go str build.
And as others have also said, the bonuses from DL boost auto making going Dex based a good option.
To each their own. I tried Str build briefly as an experiment, and hated every second. Found it very limiting. But whatever build works for you, works for you.
I see the reason in this. It can help to actually create a successful hybrid ranger which is usually impossible. Full dex ranger with these bonuses gives a good auto and high skill hits. Not bad.

Yes. Dex boosts every skill besides doubleshot and rapid. With full dex, my sharp hits at 1k+

We have many rangers in taranis. Mix of high levels 190+, 180+, 170+ and 160 down

From our clan alone we have ThePillars 5 190+ ; 2 180+ ; 2 160
From Pride 2 190+ 3 180+ more or less
From Illum 2 180+ more or less
From other clans more than 2-3 180-190

I guess that's a lot :D

Not really. xD

All of them are the same high-end rangers I talked about who first made their rangers in the golden years.

Then those two 160s are basically like Epona. Something like me and 2ana. (but I am much better ;D) And I am three years ish? years old ranger ._. No one levels with me and I fail at solo training.

We have a lot of high end rangers. I will name the ones I can think of right off the bat.

Janshai
Aly (never remember full name) >.<
mazdaranger
cucullin
ellenna
Archerguy
and many others. Although ellenna or was it elenna is kind of new. I guess you just look at leaderboards for rangers in Epona to see them all. Now note some may of been inactive fr a very long time.

DragonLord gives you heat damage. It helps a lot with your auto damage and if you haven't noticed, stre build is all about how strong your autos are. doubleshot/rapid.

Heat damage does not help a dex ranger at all so you are basically wasting those value buffs to your armor. Now, you may auto between skills but for the full potential the armor has given you, you should go strength build.

Jack-of-all-trades use to be cool back then but due to everything getting harder, it is better to be the best at one thing than a little of everything. It just will not work.

Your point about heat damage not helping a dex ranger is not well thought out tbh I don't think you read the entire thread as this was explained earlier. Elemental damage helps everyone's auto attacks , it does not help a str ranger more than a dex ranger, I could easily argue it is more substantial an improvement for dex rangers as their autos are dependent on added damage more so than a str ranger.

I went to 200 with a balanced ranger build almost the entire way , I put what points I needed in vit then split the rest evenly between str and dex.

Arawn has plenty of rangers, in fact with have more rangers in Resurgence compared to other classes.
I love my ranger.. However dl defiantly helps.
My ranger is 190, with full dl, however with the shortage of yellow crowns, have yet to received my dl main hand and offhand, but she is still strong and can deal a lot of damage.
My stats are:
strength 580 (700 with gear)
Dexterity 185 (425 with gear)
Focus 10
Vit 200

I believe strenght build is much better, as my auto attack can sometimes hit up to 1400..

Health 3550
Energy 1146
Attack 3246
Defence 850
Damage 2347
Armour 551

This build works for me however my gear does help, for example I have an imperial riftskull brace that adds 90 to both strength and dexterity, and I also have lot of gear that adds to my damage..
Resurgence has some of the highest and best rangers, including our cheif Phurious... Rangers for the win!

P.S we are also incredibly valuable for necro :)
