Re: Non-plat buying

I'm new. Got a 77 rogue and haven't bought plat. I know that's not saying much, but I have a question.

What makes leveling at the higher levels hard to do without plat?

I've played games where the higher you got, the harder the levels were. Everquest is one that stands out for that reason. Is that it? Not having lix means it takes a loooong time grinding through a level?

Without lixes, lvling at higher lvls is super difficult. You can do it without buying plat but it is very very very difficult to do without buying any platinum items.

So the amount of experience needed to level is a lot higher? And plat buys lix and such to make it easier?

Yes and yes. Also, at very high lvls, the amount of mobs that you can actually lvl off of decreases as well.

Whether or not you buy plat, you are still supporting OTM. Take for example the person who doesn't buy plat, but uses in game gold to buy plat items from another person. The plat seller had to buy the items from the plat store, which supports OTM. The person who buys the plat items secondhand is creating demand for plat items. If there was no market for plat items, the plat seller would not buy them from OTM and sell them secondhand. So whether or not you buy plat, it is inevitable that you use some form of plat items and support OTM by doing so.
This is similar to what I said in another recent post. (Though you said it better than i) I would just add that nativeX also supports OTM. For each offer you complete the company that made that app gives nativeX some money, which nativeX gives OTM. I don't know their internal financing, but I suspect that it is not as much as buying it normally, but you can be sure they are not going to shoot themselves in the foot by not charging nativeX enough to make it worth while. The same goes for trial pay.

The point is that if you make it from 1 to 190 without using a lix, pot, idol, book of alt, rebirth, wearing fashion from chests, buying a mount from a chest, getting sigils, bank or backpack expansions..... Then you don't financially support OTM. Otherwise (and this is more likely), you contribute to the continued development of the game.

Non-plat buying is nothing to be proud of... guess who buys all the elixers, chests, idols and restos...

@Liviticus sure you buy them but they wouldn't even be out for sale if it weren't for plat buyers and only plat buyers would level up, leaving non plat buyers behind.

This game is so platinum based lol
Not buying platinum is something to be proud of. It shows that the game has the potential to be free to play. I guarantee sales would be much lower if people simply bought platinum and were unable to sell the items they got with the platinum.
+1

Its not exactly somethin to be proud of if u just bought ur way through the game..
Seems the message came through one ear and out the other. Saying the game is possible to be free to play is a complete miss communication. Are you telling me that if no one bought plat people would be killing necro right now? Native X all the way huh.

Here's the thing: The game would be playable if only plat buyers existed. The game would not be playable if only non-plat buyers existed. Sales would be lower sure, but plat buyers could play and you wouldn't be able to.

Like the other postee said, its not as if I throw $200 bucks at Celtic Heroes and I'm level 200. Heck, with 200 bucks and no time spent bossing, farming, or making friends you could probably only make it to level 130 with good lux and shop armor.

Of course I have payed for the game or I wouldn't be defending myself. But hey, I don't have to farm. I still help like cray, am OP dps for my level, and I didn't have to stress myself out farming or spending an excess of time on getting quest gear. All my money spent is from gift apples I've asked for as gifts, or you can just use some from your allowance if CH is something you enjoy. You spend quite a lot of money on console games and nothings wrong with that. Put money into an everlasting game and you don't even buy console games often and everyone goes insane.

I'm proud of being a plat buyer because it makes my life easier and I am a big part of getting people their levels and gear, and I might as well spend the cash I get per month from chores as Celtic Heroes is a game I really enjoy.

I am just unhappy with this because it makes me feel as I have not made any effect on my server. The reality of it is you should be just as proud for buying plat as not buying plat. Don't make it seem as if you're "superior" because you haven't spent money in a game.

The rich provide for the poor? Although in this case the poor is just people who can't OR don't want to spend money on CH.

I know people who hadn't spent a penny and easily have x10 your total bank. Think before you speak poor boy.
