I believe your calculations are correct I can see a ghost of a string from original shot fired connected to the nock of the arrow.

With bows and arrows you pull back the string and release it so the arrow can project. In this picture he has the string pulled back, and the arrow is already projecting by itself.

It's why rangers are underpowered in this game. The design person/team designed rangers to shoot bows with their fingers never leaving the string. So instead of arrows pew pew'ing at a typical 300 feet per second, they poof poof'ing at 30 feet a second.

As the Creator of the image I can assess that what ChopstickNinja said is close to what it's happening, the ranger is so badass it's shooting so fast you can see both the shoot motion and the rest pose. Nice meme tho!

Theres a white arc on the bow, its the string's arc, drawn that way due the speed (I assume rapid shot).

I appreciate an artists view and I also appreciate the idea you try to visualize. And the ranger animations seem not so bad at all.
So really no offence meant, but may I put in some heartfelt little advice.
Once you fix the engines issue, please take the whole company for a day or two to any sport camp or preferably a mediveal fair and get some first hand idea how swords, spears, bows and daggers work and how people really move when they use them. This as a second benefit might spare us the seventies parody of gay joggers wiggling their swords in future as well.

As I already stated in a earlier reply, it's not badass but it's dumbass to have the string pulled before you fetch and notch an arrow, no matter how fast. Cause you gotta release it again and fetch the arrow next. But at least it explains the plenty of bug reports on phantom arrows never doing any damage.
