Dal Riata Enquirer: Community Interview

Voldemort. The very name strikes fear into muggles everywhere...even on the Celtic Heroes forums. We all live in constant fear of the mysterious man with no nose, who with the click of a button, can delete the post we have slaved over for countless seconds, trying to find the perfect way to insult our enemies. He has haunted the Celtic Heroes Forums for so long, many do not even know where he came from, what he wants, or most importantly....something important that I cannot think of! But maybe we can figure it out along the way. Because the Dal Riata staff has braved the Forbidden Forest and found the dark lord in his secret haunt, where he slaves away trying to plot how he can make our lives miserable with the click of a button. And wonders of wonders...he answered the questions in our interview! Finally the man behind the...lack of a nose..is revealed!

Solumbum: How long have you been playing CH?
Voldemort: I've been playing on and off since July 2011...little did I know it was a new game back then!

S: Why did you start playing CH?
V: My brother downloaded it one night, and was telling me the next morning about it. I downloaded it, and here I am today! I'm still playing because of the community mainly; I'm all about enjoying the journey rather than reaching the destination if you get my drift.

S: What is your favorite part about being a moderator?
V: I love interacting with the community and having an active role in it. There are some truly wonderful people on the forums!

S: While most people get great enjoyment out of doing something they love, every job has a negative area. So what is your least favorite part of being a moderator.
V: Difficult question -- probably having to deal with a flame war that has erupted from a negative comment. I very much believe that you can always word something nicely, so when I see a petty war erupt, I sometimes shake my head and sigh. Although it's my least favourite thing, I've never regretted accepting to be a moderator. I love being one!

S: One is not a moderator for a game that one does not enjoy. What is your favorite part of the game?
V: Generally, I like how involved OTM are with the community, and I like the players themselves. In terms of the game, I like having a whole world to dive into and explore. I know it inside out now, but that was the original thing that drew me into the game; back when the catacombs was a mysterious place that no one dared to venture!

S: Every player has different ideas on what could make Celtic Heroes a better game. Care to share yours?
V: I'm all for horizontal features. OTM are slowly bringing them in, but I basically would like to see the grind for experience overhauled into something I could spend hours doing.

S: Do you spend more time on the forums than in-game?
V: Forums for sure. It's less aggressive on the battery life while I'm out and about, and is also good procrastination when I'm supposed to be working on my laptop . The game itself is only good for me in small doses - I'll normally log on to do my bounties and then jump back to the forums unless I get caught up in something!

S: Other than the long years of service you have given to the Celtic Heroes Community, one of your greatest accomplishments is starting Celtic Heroes Magazine. What made you decide to start this amazing magazine?
V: I felt creative one day, and had nothing to lose! Again, giving something to the community makes me feel good. :D Yeah, I should really consider starting the next issue...

S: For most of us, Celtic Heroes is not our whole life. In keeping with that, what are your RL hobbies?
V: When I get the time, which I rarely do these days, I enjoy swimming (I used to swim competitively but gave up when I started my GCSEs); cycling, which I do casually mainly during the summer; photography, which is a relatively new hobby for me, but I really enjoy it; and hanging out with friends. I'm not a big 'party hard' kinda guy, so I just enjoy a chilled film and pizza or days out in Central London or something like that. :)

S: What is your favorite fashion in game?
V: My favourite is probably the top hats. In terms of full fashion, I quite like Lanrik. I have a black party hat from the Celtic Heroes 2012 anniversary which I'm never letting go of too. :P

S: One thing I personally have always wondered...when one has no nose, how does one deal with a cold?
V: Good question, and I know it's something that my other noseless friends always ask me. The trick is to just cram a load of tissue up there, close your mouth, and blow out really hard through those two holes in the middle of your face. Don't try that at home, kids!

S: Why do you love Voldemort so much instead of Harry Potter?
V: Funnily enough, I never envisaged liking Voldemort! My brother made an account called Dumbledore, and was a Mage, so I made Voldemort and was also a Mage. It kinda stuck after that!

S: Now the most important question...Do you kill muggles for fun?
V: Of course not! I just ban them from the forums

And with that I made my hasty retreat before he decided to ban me....unfortunately one of my colleagues was not so lucky and is even now laying broken in the land of banned accounts. But I have survived to give you this account of the man behind the keyboard, who has so long served us as moderator, and hopefully shall continue to do so for many years. Cheers Voldemort!

Is it weird if you do this, and have a nose?... (Asking for a friend, of course ;) )

Love the interview though! Can't wait for more in the future :D .
