Its never a waste but in higher amount its obviously inferior when coming from gear versus perhaps other stats, from 5-200 str I would choose str bonus from gear (if its plain str bonus) and at higher amounts perhaps I would prefer direct dmg (depending on amounts obviously).

What determines the inclination of the slope are Str and Weapon Stat.

why has no one mentioned Dex? the attack and defence boosts are always the same, but skill dmg added might get worse.
