Alt gearing [Doch Gul]

#1
So the main clan in Rosmerta have recently started gearing alts over mains for doch gul, I want to hear everyone's opinions on the matter. Personally I think it's a huge kick in the balls to the mains who work hard.

Also may I add that the doch gul went to the alts of Generals in the clan.

I have no idea what the circumstances were but I'll give you an example when I'd gear an alt over a main. A friend of mine has 3 toons he has leveled up to 220+ and triple logs for all bosses. He Burns through a lot of alt books and lix to help kill bosses. He's a very active daily player. All his toons are essentially 3 main toons rather than some alts that occasionally get logged. He's had some of his toons geared over other players of the same classes that aren't as active

In Avalon, while we do have a "mains over alts" rule since inception, we recognize the importance of many of our alts, and without them, we probably would be unable to do a lot of the things we do.
We have not yet reached a point where we have to consider giving DG to an alt because we give them out by sets so that's quite a long ways of.

However, we do have a special rule in the clan that gives alts of very active mains preference over other main toons for some items, particularly Godly or Void items. As many know, we use a DKP system in Avalon to distribute raid loot, and we, as much as possible, try to respect the "mains over alts" rule. But there are times when an item would be much more of a benefit to the clan if it's in the hands of an alt of a member who has very, very high attendance.

For example, would you rather have a Void Gelebron dagger to be on someone's alt that is at 95-100% of raids compared to a rogue main that only attends raids 20% of the time? The answer is yes, of course. But if it's between an alt rogue that has 95-100% attendance compared to a main that attends 70-80% of the time? Though the answer may still be yes, the main rogue is also considered "active", so we wouldn't have a problem enforcing the mains over alts rule on such cases.

Basically we defined, based on current dkp standings), what we consider an "active main", "very active alt", or "less active main"". That way, when an alt toon receives an item over a less active main, there wouldn't be any issues.

I can completely understand gearing alts, as it can sometimes be more beneficial for clan... Why gear some semi-active main over ultra active player(who multi logs to help clan at every boss).. He/she burns through double or triple the plat compared to other to get same reward?

Also as for gear going to leaders, I don't get what it is... Do people not see what leaders do? And idk about rosermta but in my clan, leaders are one of the most actives( usually most multi log too)

arawn has had issues like this. Yes gens do a lot and everyone knows that but it is not always fair. Some leaders believe all the best gear deserves to go to the leaders before any clansman. What some leaders sometimes forget is that without all the clansman these bosses would never ever die.

As for op. If a leaders alt ever recieved a piece of dg over me i would be mad as i am active. Or if it was because leaders simply feel more entitled(it has happened) then yes i would be very mad. similarly, if this alt is not dualed most of the time it would also piss me off.

However, if this alt was almost always dualed and at most bosses and far more active than me it would not be a problem. Also if it was only leaders alts that would also be a problem. It would need to be ALL very active regularly dualed alts recieving gear and not just prioritising leaders alts.

I've seen this happen in gwydion but with every time it's for the benefit to the clan, why give a godly blood ring to a main rogue that's inactive over a alt rogue who's literally at every e.g. Boss.

I know by experience I could care less this is one of those times you ask yourself is this all about me or the betterment of my clan, which will lead to everyone getting geared.

Why should I get geared over someone who always at raids/bosses and in lock groups when I'm an offgroup rogue and don't attend nearly as many bosses as the other is.
Relentless the best clan around 8-)

Can't treat every toon as a seperate toon. If you duo or trio, it hinders the individual toon potential. Having a duo in KG is a no-no. Plus it's not like each individual toon responds to different time zones. If one toon quits, they all quit. And ofc there is the moral reasons, why should someone's main toon, whom they identify as be inferior to someone's ALTERNATIVE toon made possibly only to experience the class or for fun. I can understand why gens might want to quickly gear their Alts seeing how slow Doch gul has been made. Supply is low; demand is high-- demand makes people greedy. Ofc if gen's alt was geared using a dkp system and not deceided on by themselves or system (points/dkp...) which is used was not to overriden to benefit them, they are not to blame.

Would I accept the extra work of a leader if it meant my alt would recece dg? Hell yeah are they gnna let me be one? No lol. Dont complain about the work of a leader if you never let willing people help take ff the load.

I can see how it would be a kick in the balls, imo I think especially with DG alts would only be geared after all actI've mains have been geared
