I really love the snow. I also love the rain in shalemont. I love to see raining in castle, fingal, lirs reach, stonevale and all the place.
I’d say +1 as long as the rain only came every once in a while and not 24/7 like Shalemont. I’ve suggested that once when I first started playing last year in a review and it sounds like changing weather is more complicated than it seems to be.
Awwh, I had this whole idea to give mages power ups depending on the weather. Sunny, summer boost fire, night or winter boost ice. Places in perpetual twilight and neutral weather (like OW) would have no difference. *toss* *trash bin ringing*
Hmm, dynamic weather in general would be interesting, and the effecting of elemental damage would be interesting and I think would line up with all the elements quite well (summer/beltane events boost fire, winter/yule boosts ice, spring/ostara boosts magic, halloween/samhain boosts poison) and would only apply in all the overworld areas (Lir's, castle, shalemont (less so from rain :P), stonevale).
(Edit: I'd actually like to hear a mage (@Bob) talk about this and discuss the balancing issues and if this would help/hurt elemental imbalances)

Edit 2: Realization of a potential opportunity for gear effect: new jewelry/armor set with like skain/gara sets' auras except set bonus gives permanent seasonal boost (not stacking with seasonal event).

A dynamic weather system would be really cool. Even though there aren't many "overworld" maps, I think it would be a neat addition to the game (especially since people spend quite a bit of time in the castle).

I think trying to tie in buffs to dynamic weather would be a neat mechanic, but probably isn't worth the effort. The only "overworld" maps are in the first quarter of the game, and therefore any mechanics related to dynamic weather won't really have much of a benefit to the overall game.

Completely agree here with everything you said. But concerning just having dynamic weather system it sounds like it’s more difficult to do (if I’m not misunderstanding what you guys are saying). But then again that was when OTM still was around. Is it possible to have an admin give their opinion?
