this is literally the best game I've found on a phone. I hate to see these comments as there not going to help the game grow. It's too good to be abandoned. But the dev's should definitely be ashamed of themselves, they have no idea what they have here.
The current devs are pretty much the step-father of the game. They were originally based in Ireland but they opened a "sister" dev team in Thailand and got rid of the original team. Now they're working on a new game and theres a good chance once its released....something...maybe might happen to this one. You know how that works, kid you raised in your current marriage tends to get Favorited over the one you "inherited" from the old father.
Just want to know there is a future before I spend money ya know?

Unfortunately, there isn't really any way to know for certain, plus it also depends what you consider as "a future".

I sincerely doubt that VR will shut down Celtic Heroes altogether, at least not anytime soon. So with the idea that "a future" means that the game will still exist, I think it's safe to say that yes it does have a future.

On the other hand, considering new content for CH, that's a little more debatable. Like Ash said, the developers are currently working on another game. That seems to be taking most of their focus, likely because it's supposed to be releasing this year. When that other game is out, will VR go back to creating new and decent content for CH? Maybe, maybe not - there is no way to know for certain. With the idea that "a future" means new content for the game, no one could really tell you - probably not even VR themselves.

All that being said, I feel like there is enough game content to keep players invested for several months, if not multiple years. I feel like that's quite decent for any mmo, let alone a mobile one. New content would definitely be great (especially for us old timers who have been around for the better part of a decade) but it's not 100% necessary to keep the game going - though there are definitely changes that could be made to make the game more inviting to the more casual player.

Its a given if you neglect a game enough, its going to get smaller and smaller and there might be a chance before you know it, its more expensive to maintain it than to keep it.

It is a really fun game. There’s a lot of people who’ve been playing for 8+ years now, and the fact that this game has been, quite frankly, running strong since 2011 with a fairly sizable community really does to show how good this game is. Getting a mobile game to run strong for almost 9 years is extremely hard to do and not many games can accomplish that. Despite what negative comments people say here on the forums nobody here can disagree on the fact that the game is fun because they wouldn’t be here on the forums if it wasn’t and they didn’t care.

Don’t let the negative players here who’ve been spreading negativity since the Stone Age of this game get you thinking that the devs are simply abandoning the game. That’s most likely far from the truth, and it’s just players trying to make justified false arguments for their own downfall in terms of their own enjoyment of the game. How much fun you want to have in this game is entirely up to you, and I’ve said it before, many players for some reason decide to shoot themselves in the foot. I’ve been server banned from Epona and I’ve been told countless times that supposedly half of the player base hates me because of my viewpoints on the game, and I still manage to have fun... I’ve been having fun since Feb 2012 and if I can find a way then so can everyone else. Quit being a bum and get creative.

Yes VR is the sister company of the original studio OTM. However I’m pretty sure the same guy who ran things over at OTM is still running things over at VR. I don’t know for sure, but that’s what I heard. So it’s not like it’s a completely new company with completely new visions taking over Celtic Heroes, not to mention VR also worked alongside OTM while creating content. Most notably CG I believe.

Yes VR is working on a new game, but what else can you expect really? VR is a company, and what does every company hope to do at a certain stage in their life cycle? Expand! Every company looks to expand at some point and this new game is that expansion. Expanding a company opens the doors to more revenue, which gives VR more resources to develop, which opens the doors to new possibilities. Schwing and Difinitus have both made it clear Celtic Heroes isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

That being said, yes content will be slow to come for a little while longer for Celtic Heroes as VR works on their new game. Yes it will suck in the short run, but in the long run I can see nothing but positivity coming from this whole process. So again, don’t let the negativity of these players bring you down as they clearly don’t know what they’re talking about. The only thing people should be concerned about is how successful this new game will be, because if it flops then things could possibly get a little shaky.

Thank you! Amazing message and I agree, so far I love the game and I will continue to explore and ignore any negativity. As far as my original question about activity, I'm still stumped but I can play alone or with a group so I guess it's not a big issue. Thank you for your positive views.

This gets asked a lot. When looking for an accurate answer to this question make sure people are describing the overall activity across all level ranges. People tend to only talk about endgame activity which misses the whole point of asking which server is active. Endgame is not the only thing representing a server no matter how much you believe it is. Best way to find out the activity of a server is to simply go visit the castle on different servers at various different times of the day. The more people there are in the castle the more socializing between players there is, which is a good representation of server activity and a good way to find out how active a server is without having to level up there and find out yourself.

For those going to answer this question, activity means how many players actively play the game and how full areas are at any given time of the day. Having a lot of people logging in only for bosses does not mean the server is active. Killing Bt or Dino in record times does not represent a servers activity.
The server you are on most people sit in castle and dice 24 hours a day and dont actually do much, if any boss hunting. No knock on you, I think you arent one of those people who just sits and does nothing, but I wouldn't rely solely on castle activity to form an opinion.

If there are people in the castle actively socializing, that’s a good sign of an active server. When people think of an active server, most players automatically think of a busy castle because that is the social hub. Doesn’t matter if it’s full of people dicing, they’re still playing the game. Also no, Eponas castle is always full of people simply chilling out and talking to one another.

No I’ve had a toon on Danu for a little while now. Playing multiple servers

Ok well I was referring to danu. I also have toons on like a half dozen servers. Maybe more. Just dont log much on some. Point was castle is not indicative of everything. Lir for example, rarely anything on auction sometimes but always people at certain bosses.
