Wouldn't a ranger with a spear skill, ergo quick strike, just make you a gimp rogue? I can hear the rogues complaining already.

This is a bad idea no offense to rangers but they keep asking and getting boosts to there class that way overdoes it, such as spears and knuckles. In my opinion if your a ranger why are you not using a bow thats kinda the whole point.

Honestly I agree we don't need spear skills , we hardly need spear at all knucks are way better.

What I want for ranger is a crossbow.

Missing the point really yes bows will be the best weapon for ranger but a second weapon choice isnt always bad i see more warriors and rogues using spears all time why should rangers be locked to one weapon bcz its the only one with skills ?

I think there should be spear abilitys, but I also think spear abilitys would take main ability points from bows skill attacks.

And yes, two handed weapons have become obsolete so, there is no point adding a two handed weapon for a Mage unless it is not obsolete and therefor is worth it's bread.

Because both spear and bow are pierce , spear is useless lol.

Lol! True. Nomally, if I'm using spear, I'm just training to keep spear skill maxed cuz I'm bored. I can't think of a practical reason for rangers to use spears imo, but there is one practical scenario for rogues using spears:
...When fighting a boss with fire cloak I might use high dmg spear, because high DMG + low SPD helps maximize output dmg & minimize suffered heat dmg.

This is only practical if you have a high dmg spear like Void Trident. Otherwise, I would suggest WinterKing or Icelord dagger in this scenario. Unless additional spear skills are added, spears will be limited to use as a secondary weapon.

Spears are perhaps the fastest way to level up a ranger, and that is why they are becoming so popular. If your using a bow, you most likely have some points in Rapid shot, bolas, steady aim, sharp shot, light heal or bandages, or rejuv, and med. Using a Spear for leveling, you can dump points into basically three things, Rapid shop, light heal, and Meditation. This allows you at even fairly low levels to have almost maxed skills. Also with a spear you can equip bucklers and shields allowing for a nice boost to AC. My Ranger with a spear is farming mobs 10 levels higher than he is. I said farming, not soloing one, and taking 3 min to heal, meditate, etc.. I mean one after the other with little downtime. There is nothing wrong with either the bow or the spear, they just allow rangers to have flexibility in play style. I know when alot of folks think of a "ranger" they get this image of Robin hood with a long bow, but I tend to think of the German Celt type of hunter that used spears to hunt wild boar and deer. I used to live in Germany and seen the spears used by the celts, romans, etc.. in museums, so Its just something that I grew up with.

I 100% disagree with the idea of spear being fastest way to level ranger. Bow is better dps plain and simple. If the shield makes that much of a difference then they are op lol. If spear is your fastest way of leveling ranger , you are doing something wrong.

In no way can you call killing mobs 10 levels higher than you farming if solo, that's just not using the term correctly.

Yes, spear should be for a defensive ranger, and bow for a dps ranger.

So spear skills should be defensive.
