On Lugh it is pretty empty aside from a few special cases.
Back when it was level appropriate, I used to group Lightface (druid) with Akbar (ranger) for duo training on the green ghosts. But once we were able to take on grey trees and golems, we abandoned the zone for partner training. But when it was time for me to solo again, I skipped rock golems and solo trained almost exclusively on the grey wraiths. I've seen a couple of rogues training on green ghosts, but again: once people are high enough level to take on the trees, they leave the ghost zone permanently.
I dual boxed my rogue and support druid almost exclusively on purple and grey ghosts, and plan to continue working the grey ghost zone until they hit level 124. I see a few brave rogues solo training on grey ghosts, usually on super combo elix and resto pots. I have seen one or two other rogue/druid pairs training on purple ghosts.
Why do so many people skip the ghosts?
- The grey trees and rock golem zones are much easier to get to and through because of their proximity to the tower leystone, and because the mobs are spread out so far.
- The purple ghosts' soul bleed skill is certain death for anyone with a skill- or spell-based build. Basically anyone aside from a pure melee build. That is, almost everyone.
- Once you've been burned, so-to-speak, by the purple ghosts, you are unlikely to want travel through their dense high-aggro zone to get to the grey ghosts. Especially when you can pick and choose your aggro in the tree and golem zones.
Why do I like training in these zones?
- No one else is there, so I don't have to compete for mobs.
- High mob density means that I waste a lot less time getting from one mob to another. This is key when multi boxing.
- I have optimized my rogue/druid combo for these specific mobs.
- When soloing Lightface on grey ghosts, I figured out the Abundance/Sickly Pallor trick, and redid my skills to neutralize one of the major challenges of the zone
- When soloing Lightface on grey ghosts, I figured out that ghosts seem to have lower hp and are more susceptible to magic attacks than trees and golems. This was great because Lightface was heavily weighted towards magic attacks.
- There are a couple of xp ghost spawn points in this zone. If you're lucky, they spawn quite often. I got 4 this past Sunday (two on one elix... and for those who are keeping score, yes, I've started on elix on my alts. Lightface is still "pure"), another two on Monday.
- Better loot: the drop rate for reliquaries seems better than oak wood or golem gems.
