I bought a Broom of doom and full darkflame for a lot of gold just before the Halloween update.

Did I make a mistake? NO

Why? Because I much prefer the look.

Granted, it is not useful, but the set is awesome.

I know it's not a big deal and kinda off topic, but I'm disappointed the looks of the old brooms were changed. I prefer the old plain brooms they used to be. Plus I thought OTM repeatedly said they wouldn't change old items. So I don't get why they made the old brooms different.

We specially made brand new brooms with a new look and different style of attacks (range particles instead of melee) in order to not clash with the old brooms to maintain the unique value for players who obtained the original brooms.

We don't change existing items wherever possible, that means if you have an item we try to keep it unchanged, and instead release a new version of the item with the changes.

The discussion is really about value of a market item and how new products and changes in trends effect the price.

What you are basically saying is that life isn't fair because the government let digital cameras be invented. They should have made them illegal so my Kodak stock will be worth something.

New products come out.
Some collectibles loose popularity.
It's called investing, get used to it.

Ah sorry I misunderstood, they shouldn't have changed, I am guessing an artist wanted to improve the look and made the change with good intentions.
