I think you can complete the quest even if you just kill the placeholders. it's been served on a silver platter.

I was lazy and never even got the quest, so even after killing countless full bosses I never completed it till tower came out. It took a week and a half of nonstop camping, including 26 placeholders at stone to finally complete this quest when you needed the lower 6* (the harder 6* wouldn't count either!!!). You kids have it easy these days.

Back in my day we didn't have your fancy leystones. When we died we had to walk back from the zone entrance in 10 feet of snow, uphill backwards! There were no mounts back then, we had to walk in our bare feet. You darn kids. Get off my lawn!
