)On leveling abilities, YES IT MAKES A MASSIVE DIFFERENCE IN DAMAGE.
On is it worth using? I loved the elk on my mage and the bear on my tank. I would ocsssionaly use mount whistles but not all the time, it really depended on the kill. If it was a freak death like tank dc or something out of the ordinary i would use a whistle, but if it was a messy raid I wouldn’t bother, sometimes i would even remove my mount before the raid if I expected it to be messy.
I love(d)my battle mounts, but I get they aren’t always useful. I for example wouldn’t have bought an elk until EG for my mage because I know that a mage leveling is going to die a ton...
All in all evaluate what you would get out of it and see if it suits your play style.
