Re: Question about the Rez Idol Nerf Debate

But if OTM's goal is profit, then why did they add cooldowns on restos and idols? In simpler words, this was a ploy to sacrifice one plat item to increase profit on others.
So people wouldnt spam them continuously, this game wouldn't be considered an MMO then, just an in app purchase game. But if OTM's goal is profit, then why did they add cooldowns on restos and idols? In simpler words, this was a ploy to sacrifice one plat item to increase profit on others.
The only thing i really dont understand about this game is how they advertise it as being able to play it all the way for free. For free implies that anyone could make it to endgame without any purchases, yet this entire game is based on plat items, whether you buy it or someone else buys and sells too you. If a server was started without a plat item option, people would see what a flop of a free game this is, rather already a inn app purchase gameSo people wouldnt spam them continuously, this game wouldn't be considered an MMO then, just an in app purchase game. But if OTM's goal is profit, then why did they add cooldowns on restos and idols? In simpler words, this was a ploy to sacrifice one plat item to increase profit on others.
What im saying is, instead of going all guns on this topic about idol zerging, look at the other side of it. People with platinum will be the champions in this game.
Oh, so you want a platless game? Me too, I would also like to see the developers make zero money off their full time jobs. The only thing i really dont understand about this game is how they advertise it as being able to play it all the way for free. Good to hear from someone with real, actual experience, instead of just speculations and unfounded complaints.Lvl160 rogue on Android, Balor. Yes idol Nerf does kinda suck in some ways, it kinda kills Zerging, however it promotes strategy and unity while taking down harder bosses, yes restos are consumed like 1.5x as much now, but they aren't really that expensive are they? Even if you buy em by the crate, but---
I would very much like to see restos get some sort of buff, not necessarily higher HP, but maybe a slightly reduced cast time or something? Maybe a percentage based pot... Idk. Either way point is the idol Nerf isn't bad, it just makes you wanna stay alive longer so people really buckle down in tough fighs, adding to the immersion somewhat.
I think you guys already know that im one of the more outspoken critics of OTM and CH, especially its shortcomings. Some folks even make a joke when they see something "positive" from my posts, to which I understand because it is rare that I do that. This one change OTM did would be on the "positive" side and I commend them for taking that brave step, i bet they knew how unpopular that decision would be and yet, it had to be done.Aileron, there isnt just ONE reason why OTM would decide all of a sudden to nerf idols.
I agree that this will not allow people to "zerge" bosses, but this isnt OaC, something you state over and over again, giving examples of other MMOs, Celtic Heroes is a unique MMO where platinum items get you to high places.
If we look at this with the perspective of a business mind, you will see how much more profit OTM will gain from this nerf.
Platinum items such as: Heroic elixers will be sought after more, increasing chests sale. Restorations will be bought more to be used after resurrecting. Sigils will be bought more to gain that hp and energy in that 1-2 second of idleness after resurrecting.
Please for Gooodness sake stop looking at this with the zerging perspective, there is more to this.
