Admin replied to everyone multiple times when the info came out that camo charms were going away. And that info was released over 3 weeks before the Update. And then rereleased by about 5 different people coming to forums and asking about the rumours they heard about camo charms etc. The information was heavily distributed prior to the removal.
The reason for removal was it was Over-Powered. The actually changed the code of the game so that some mob's could see thru a camo charm and 6 star bosses could as well. Which is why Deadroot can see thru your camo-charm.
A number of players grabbed a number of camo charms so they could sell them for tons now, and that's just good sense. But as time passes and it does, camo charms will slowly vanish off the servers from people stopping their play or slowing it, or leaving game all together and this blip of the camo charm "have's vs have-nots" will just be a tiny footnote. The game is much easier with a camo charm, and much harder without one. It was designed to be much harder for everyone, but purely removing these charms completely woulda caused incredible furor, and it was deemed this route was better.
At the end of the day this all seems like a cause of the "coulda, woulda, shoulda's". You had yer chance to grab yer charm. You didn't. Sucks for you. Get over it. It's on you, not on the company that gave you 3 weeks of freaking notice.
- Tea, we're in the same clan, we agree on a lot but you're perspective is from someone who was, "In the loop." I actually check the boards fairly regularly, I had clan mates in Beta, including you, I'm not a complete idiot (contrary to popular belief) and yet somehow even I missed the importance of purchasing a camo charm prior to the update. The only reason I have one now is due to an alert clan mate. So the notion that everyone was sufficiently notified is flawed and the current feedback on this thread is a clear indication that not everyone was sufficiently notified. If they had been notified properly, there wouldn't be such a backlash now.
- Regarding the notion that the camo charm is overpowered, again I reject that. I run through OW and barely make it through the gauntlet of eyes almost every time and a simple solution to weakening it even further is to take one "TYPE" of mob from each "FAMILY" of mobs and make them be able to see through camo. I contend that the camo charm is already weak enough but a simple solution to this whole matter would seem to be, make the camo charm slightly weaker and bring it back. Make the merchants buy back any unwanted charms at full price and call it a day. The only ones unhappy with this solution, I feel, would be succumbing to their own selfish desires.
By the time new players get to the otherworld Rangers will be rocking Conceal the Full Group Camo and the like. I think part of the frustration is the lack of new spells fully entering the game, sooner than later Conceal will make a ranger heavily sought after to cloak their group on long journeys into the dragon or even into the new Otherworld Dungeon. I think we are all feeling the void now because there actually is a void of these skills not being fully distributed yet.
- Regarding group camo for Rangers... Forget it, no Ranger worth a crap, is going to want to spend 25 skill points for this. Just not going to happen.
