Re: Stop the monopoly or fix it please

MdiMarco, seema like you did not understand my post, I said its possible to get armor UP TO Frozen not frozen unless you are very vigilant. Very rude relating clans to Facism just immature to say, Im not ripping anyone off when I sell some full meteoric sets for 100k, when the patch was first release meteoric was 500k-1mill for full set so these newer players are at no disadvantage. Target lock is the worst idea i have heard UNLESS another group of people will be able to kill the group attacking the boss, the only way to makeit fair so you cant super power level and so someone else doesnt do the work for you. You do not need to be in a clan to get anything so you can make excuses but its the players fault.
You are clearly a very experienced player, but I do not understand your reasoning, no offense. Which is to say, I do not understand your post. :)

I also think you may not be reading the entire thread. We are not talking about simple target lock, if you go back and look. Personally, if there were an open PvP server, that is where I would play. I do not think OTM will do this anytime soon, but who knows.

I beleive that the system of awarding kills based on a combo of aggro and dps, rather than just target lock or just dps, answers your concern. Please take a look at what has been written about that and see.

Aggro should not count toward a boss kill for the following reasons:

1-A Druid who casts calm on themselves or dps in their group would be reducing their group's overall aggro, thus hurting their chances of "winning" the boss.

2-A Druid who casts calm on another group's tank of dps would be reducing their group's overall aggro, thus hurting their chances of "winning" the boss.

3-A rogue who uses Distract would be reducing their group's overall aggro, thus hurting their chances of "winning" the boss.

You would make one of the Rogue's defensive skills far less desirable and you would make one of the Druid's defensive/support skills and make it into more of a kill-stealing tool. Calm can already be used to mess with other groups' aggro by removing it from their tank, but of aggro were calculated into boss kills it would become more than a minor nuisance.

Yes I mentioned that people could spec to do this. It is not as cut and dried as you suggest though. In your own group a death means loss of aggro. You are therefore justly penalized for deaths. Calm and distract while reducing aggro will not wipe aggro. This means players would have to become very skill full at this, reducing aggro just enough to keep the player alive, while not over reducing aggro.

It is already possible to wipe a group using calm. Currently the kill award is a dps competition and it is skewed toward a single class, and some exceptions. How is it significantly different to add aggro to this competitive dynamic, other that it gives all classes a chance to participate.

Actually the class most disadvantaged by this are rangers whose main advantage currently is survivability due to bola and ranged attack. They do not have a direct aggro management skill and do not necessarily out dps other classes. But i do not see a lot of rangers worrying about a change to their ability to KS. Mages In addition to adding a great deal of secondary dps, have significant dps in their own right.
