Re: New Character Challenge Run (Potential Video Series)

Challenge idea: Start a Druid, and use only melee damage to kill mobs.

You could play with how strict you want to be... ie. you could use bark or not; you could use touch/embrace or not. Point is, no lightning, no storm, no vines.

To be a little less masochistic, you could use the damage spells, but keep them at level 1.

Want to watch hours of grinding? Im talking about hours to reach a decent level lol.

Okay guys. I don't know if you get this but there is supposed to be a challenge, not a set back. An example would be that druid challenge above. Any druid can kill without damage spells since they have heals. But leveling a druid is slow as it is and removing damage spells is just painful to watch... Let alone play.

Ristricting access to vendors, reliant skills, or some common weapons is a challenge. A limit to how many deaths or how much gold can be used is a chellenge. I have put a couple examples up but im getting are ideas to slow down leveling.

Another example is to see how high i can make it with beginner gear. If things get to hard, i can always grind my way higher on lower mobs. An objective level would be a whole new story.

So I ask once more. Do you have any ideas which relate to this challenge concept rather than a method of slowing basic leveling to a crawl?

Sorry I misunderstood, though I thought it would be challenging to play a Druid without damage skills.

1. What about a profit challenge? You have mentioned you don't want to grind. Let's see how much money you can make in, say, three hours of game play. No killing. You could start by collecting some stones in the arena/lir's and sell to players. Make some money and see if you can buy something for a discount, then sell to someone else for a higher price. How much do you have in cash and items at the end?

2. How about a level until Shalemont challenge? How many levels can you gain (all other things like vendors, sales, gear are on the table) until you can no longer gain any meaningful experience from killing in Shalemont? By meaningful experience you would have to determine a number, but stop as soon as all the regular mobs give you below (say) 200exp.

Again, there is no handicap. The first suggestion can be done by anyone atcany level and it has nothing to do with leveling a new character. The second suggestion is exactly what I just explained to be a set back, not a challenge. Any person can sit and grind at mobs tht have become so easy to kill. I need a handicap such as one above that i listed for example.

I have come to the conclusion that I don't quite "get" you, Blaze.

Generally, when one asks for ideas, or says "any ideas will help," they don't then go and immediately thrash each and every idea that is offered them.

I went back through this thread, mainly because I thought I must have missed something. I offered the idea of a Druid Melee challenge, which you quickly shrugged off as being foolishly grind oriented. (Meanwhile, I'm thinking... "Didn't the OP propose boxing his way to lvl 60?" lol)

For each and every idea that was offered, you either passed it off as being pointless, negated it as being a non-challenge, or smugly re-posted your own quote to show that you already came up with that idea.

Like I said, maybe I just don't get you; maybe I have walked in to some esoteric group of friends who are used to bashing each other down... but I run a lot of workshop and training sessions. When I ask my team for ideas, all ideas stay on the table until all ideas are on the table. Then we pick things apart. Your systematic pompousness has made me withhold any other ideas I may have, and I have to admit... It has made me hope that you fail.

Sorry if I've read you incorrectly, but I bow out of this thread.

Anyway, I'm sure the best idea will be your own. Good luck with that.

Firstly, h2h with a ranger is different because half the skills are either useless or unable to work, but still not as grinding oriented. Secondly, I get where your coming from with the druid thing, but with a healing spell, it really isnt a challenge to level, its just a pain in the arse to spend so much time on it. After all, its for people to watch, and a grind fest isn't a hardcore challenge. Thirdly, I don't mean to bash on your ideas (trying to explain what kind if things in looking for).

Like I said, I don't plan in leveling too high, so an objective level is what im also looking for. Grinding in shalemont until mobs give me 200xp only gets easier at one point and is only a matter of grinding, creating less of a challenge. Anoth idea I got was see how much gold I can make in a certain amount of time. What was that? I listed examples of restrictions to give you an idea. How about I start it off and you guys choose 2 restrictions that I list?

Class: Druid
Objective Level: 50
Restriction1 (pick 1):
*Only skills usable are Embrace, vines, and meditate
*No head, hand, and foot armor
Restriction2 (pick 1):
*No skill evasion abilities
*must drop 2 equipped items on second, third, and fourth death (or remain items equipped) per level.
Rules: Cannot group level, transfer gear, or transfer gold.
