It seems odd to me, to hear ppl say a clan is incapable or undeserving of killing a boss because another clan can out DPS them. I can take my rogue and stand in the catas, and take Kiera every time a team shows up to kill her. Does that mean all the new players trying to finish that quest don't deserve to until they get a team up to lvl 140 who can outDPS me? That's just silly.
This has framed the biggest issue I have with CH. It's system allows for bullies and takes the fun away from the majority who eventually leave the game. When you push your strength around at the expense of others it becomes an act of selfish bullying. Call it "competition" call it "we worked hard to be who we are", but realize that in the eyes of your server you are defining yourself as bullies.
And I guess this is the biggest thing I like about CH.. That the player community chiefly defines the game. That yes, Bullying occurs, that yes the game's mechanics allow for some perilous gameplay at another's expense..without a doubt. But the community, and whether that be clan-specific community, or server-specific defines who they are and what they are in the midst of that.
To me, I completely understand the dislike expressed by the idea that griefers can act with impunity, but in essence I enjoy being able to say, my clan and my crew doesn't stand for that kind of gameplay, we won't do that, and we won't enter into it. And maybe that means that we will get a bit less loot, but we will still be able to enjoy the fact that we engage daily in a manner that we are Celtic Heroes, and not Celtic Villians.
But I think if you remove the "choice" of conduct, the environment becomes so sterile that it may become unpalatable.
