In most other online MMO's there is a hard level cap. Once that level is attained there is no more leveling. And those other MMO's have other pursuits in game to keep entertaining the players once they have reached that hard level cap. Other pursuits have not really been implemented yet in CH.

Right now CH has something I refer to as a "soft" level cap. And that level cap is different for each person. To level up into the 150's takes serious dedication and time to accomplish. 150 is the new 100! However, as each person gets near the 140+ mark they start nearing that soft cap. It is up to the individual how far they want to push into it. For me, being married, family, full time job, house and a list of other responsibilities there is not time enough in the day for me get to 150. I've made the goal of trying to get to 140, I've still got a way to go yet, I'm only 111. And if I get there I personally have the choice to try harder to level or pursue other things.

We as players cannot compare a "soft" level cap with a hard level cap. Enjoy the journey and enjoy the game.

We can't get upset at OTM and blame the developers if some individuals work really hard and attain the 150 mark. It is a badge of honor of dedication to the game. And honestly, with those really dedicated guys leveling up to 150 and all the time they spend in the OW grinding away it leaves the old world bosses up for grabs :D

There are a few big differences if you compare leveling to 100 before update and to 150 now.

The xp drops dramatically one level below you and doesn't go up fighting something one level higher than you. This needs to be switched back. It would release the tension of all players doing the otherworld grind.

Wyverns are not soloable. Three star mobs and even two star mob dragoncults are not easily soloable. I hate forced grouping.

Everything takes twice as long to kill with changes to skills and combat since update. All the work put into this game and all the skills created... And killing using just auto attack still the best option for many builds.

Add it all together and you can see why everyone is complaining. It isn't fun. Once you level your main past 140 I doubt many will ever attempt it with an alt.

To admin if he has time to read this.... Leveling with an 4x xp potion now is comparable to the rate of leveling without any help before the update. That's how much you slowed things. The xp weekend when everyone was getting 8x the xp would be comparable to leveling with potions before the update also. Five months ago the game was fun. With the current system in place and higher levels in the future it cant stay on this course.

I think the problem is, where stat points start to have less of an effect on a stat past 300, the higher level you get, the less effect your stat points actually have.. Therefore when you get to the 140 Wyverns, as a rogue you (I) still have around 300-400 strength.. Whereas the Wyverns have a lot more health than a 4* eye for example. Without strength doing much more damage past 300.. Still solo, The 140 Wyverns (I'm a 144 rogue) take about 5x the amount of time a 4* 100 eye took on my lvl 96 ranger. Difference is, I got around 15-20k xp from the eye on my ranger (on elixer).. I got about 4k xp from the Wyvern on my rogue (on elixer)... Too many times when lvling on an elixer in the dragon cave, do I find myself hopelessly fighting a 140 Wyvern that is not a lot quicker than a 145 or 150 Wyvern, only difference being, the 145s and 150s give 15-20k xp per kill, and the 140s give 4k per kill..

I think the decrease in xp for mobs lower level than yourself is too much also, you should get maybe 2-5% less xp for each level a mob is under your own. Getting 1/4 of the xp for a mob, that is only 4 levels lower than your own is insane, when it is still just as hard to kill.

I have recently passed 100, and it is not "optional" to use elixers to level efficiently but rather "mandatory" to use them. Of course you don't have to use them, but it will take a month of grinding to gain one simple level. One more thing that I feel is wrong is the horrific gold drops in OW. Really the OW mobs give the same gold as Shalemont mobs.

BlLRD and Deucaleon, I agree with what you guys said, leveling with an elixir on seems like the norm to level now, and skill points also have less of an effect now once you get like 300+ or so in a certain stat.
I don't like to and try not to complain about every little thing, but there are certain things such as xp that could really use some changing.

What would make you guys happy? To be able to level twice a day after 140 just like in the low 100s? Or 1 level a day? or a level every 3 days?

What's a reasonable timeframe do you think to keep the balance between leveling speed and ability for OTM to deliver content? Level distribution is usually a pyramid. Which means there are fewer high levels than low levels. This is true for most MMOs. Getting a level per day will make distribution like an inverted pyramid and all we will have is contention and overpopulation in the high level zones. This was apparent in pre update 3 where there were zero mobs in stonevale to kill.

I'm not really sure on how many days it should take, because it all depends on how much time and effort you put in each day. However, considering 150 is the soft level cap, I think at 140 it should take about 3 hours of grinding a day for around 3-4 days to level up (without elixirs). This way people who have other things going on in their lives besides just CH (which i think is most people) should be able to find time to level up even if they are a high level. That seems reasonable to me, but of course that's just my opinion and I'm sure many people have others.
And Aileron, I agree with you, reaching the max level, or the soft cap, shouldn't be a piece of cake. However, I also don't feel One Thumb should make it take people ages to level just so they have more time to release content- if people reach 150 or 140 and have to wait a little while for new content, so be it; because I think One Thumb has done a decent job post Update 3 of creating events such as the Summer Event and Anniversary Event that have helped keep new content in the game ( even though they said updates would come much sooner now, and update 4 doesn't seem to be on the track of being any faster than the previous updates).

So about 9-10 hours per level in your opinion? let's say, being conservative here, 120 hours to go from 140 to 150?

It took me about 3.5 months to go from 100-150 without elixirs, and that's playing hard for about 5-6 hours xp grinding per day excluding time spent on bossing, with the 3 days of double xp weekend. I estimate the last 10 levels took about 2 months, so about 6 days per level give or take. It would be faster with more level 145+ and level 150 mobs, but I think the current rate is fine. When the level 160-180 mobs come out, level 140-150 would be a breeze.

Now that I think about it Aileron, the rate you leveled does seem reasonable, and I apologize for complainig about the current leveling state. I guess what I'm really concerned about is that the xp doesn't increase anymore, and it already takes a while to level up, and yet the level range keeps getting higher. 150-180 will probably be doable, and possibly even to 200, but after that I can't really see how people will level more getting 2-6k xp per kill.

So I guess my advice for OTM is either to make the final lv cap 200, or make the xp per kill gradually go up once again when you start fighting enemies around 190-200.

Also, in the future i would recommend OTM making the higher lv zones such as the Otherworld have storyline quests like Shalemont and Lirs had- I believe a solid quest line for each zone, especially the Otherworld, would help ease the boredom and length of time people are feeling as they level up.

Anyway Ail I truly admire your hard work leveling without elixirs, that shows true dedication. Congrats on level 151 :)
