Really? The speed difference is negligible, and besides with the trident you can use a golden blade which has more damage than the quiver...

Not for nuthn I've tested both , for whatever reason bow is still better , I'm not saying it's impossible to out dps bow with spear just I have yet to experience it . I have never seen a boss killed by a spear wielding toon either , that's telling IMO .

Maybe I just love bow and the versatility it offers I dunno , but this thread was certainly not meant to be a bow vs spear discussion and let's not make it that .

Well ya the spear doesn't have built in banes.

So for otw bosses switch to your froz bow...and for everything else spear and elemental blade .

Ignorance must be bliss. To think you know everything must make you all warm inside. Since banes do not go towards a specific players damage on a boss , how would they help get the bow ranger the kill ?

Never said it would help the bow ranger get the kill. That is inconsequential. Use a frozen bow to kill otw bosses faster, use a spear for everything else for maximum dps.

I understand your point. That is true for diamond spear vs diamond bow since the speed difference is noticeable. However like another poster said the frozen bow is only 7% faster than the trident. The trident has 12% more dps even considering the speed. Now lets say you are hitting for 1000 damage auto attacks. That means the 7% speed needs to add more damage than your lack of 12% dps.

12% dps would be 120 damage. Also don't forget the extra 100 damage bonus for elemental offhand vs quiver.

That makes 220 damage difference to overcome per auto attack. At 7% speed difference that means you have to do .07x=220

That means you need 3412 added damage from gear for the bow to out dps the spear.

So if your auto's only do 500 damage, then you would still need 1706 added damage from armor to out dps the spear.

Make sense?

Well I don't know if any of our rangers have max Spear skill (except maybe Kallep but he only has a Dark Trident), we have to wait until you get a Void Trident, Elim (or borrow DP's or Songz) and max your spear then we can find out more if that premise is correct.

That'd be me.

Elim your not looking at is from all views, mathimatically, the trident provides better dps and both weapons do piercing damage. The bow has its pros but dps in comparasin to the trident is not one of them.
