I do partly agree with the OP. A lot of the winners didn't have amazing drawings, but something that all competitions test lately are creativity. Some of us are more creative than others, and all the competitions seem to draw upon this skill and nothing else. It would be nice to have more varied competitions in the future that include other groups of people.

One winner drawing is a clear RIP OFF of World of War Craft's cloud serpent/sky serpent/ chinese dragon mount. how in the world is that creative? thats my very point of insult to intelligence.


Some of us are more creative than others indeed. the cardboard maquette was a delightful surprise, and many others did admirable efforts on research.

I understand about that some people dont have the gift to be an artist, but a COMPETITION is about the one whos the best, if u do football and theres one bad team they will never get the prize, but all the good teams will get the prize. And they got like 1100 entries so its rly hard to pick a winner.

I think the topic is getting rather hostile...

I wanted to draw a wooden toy horse. Forgot about this comp until the last day.
I'm not an amazing drawer either but if you don't try to express your ideo in a way you'll never win.

I also think Otm brings out bigger prices with bigger competitions. The last mount competition was creating a video (trailer).
Now it was a drawing. In my eyes a bit smaller / less effort. Depending on how much time someone puts in it. But more people can join at least.

Otm does do a lot more competitions lately. And I think the annoyance here is that there are coming more and more items to the game most people cannot touch. It's a one time grab. Or a chance of luck after farming for months.

I too in the old competition have seen rip offs. Re drawings or copy paste. This is bad.
But taking inspiration out of something old and turn it into something new isn't. But make sure you make it your own.

Just like how most creators do it. & or film makers. Take some inspiration out of a video called "everything is a remix" on vimeo.
For now let's thank Otm for this competition. And of course don't stop with expressing your feelings towards this but also come up with some feedback and ideas how to improve.

I personally think there is not much wrong with the competition . But the prizes are something nobody wants to miss on. So either let the mount return in other different competitions. Or change prices to something more basic + plat bonus? This way people can choose as well what to do with their plat.
