How is it fair if a less active person had the highest bid on a godly item that drops once in a CH lifetime?
It's fair because the person isn't less active if they have more points. If they already spent them our clan handles this by turning in items and returning points.

How is it fair that different people may pay different amounts for the same kind of item because there was no bidding war?
Its fair if it is due to supply and demand. Being the first to have an item has its costs. If people are running up bids with no intention of using then that is a clan morale issue that goes beyond dkp.

How is it fair that the person who has the most points may not end up with the most items (or even the best ones)?
if they don't end up with the best items you are doing dkp wrong, the whole point is points win all.

Such are the massive flaws of a bidding/auction system.
Yes there are problems but the above aren't always so bad.

Dkp ensures you put in effort for what you want, we post interested on a item and have one chance to send a bid in the 12 hours of bidding phase, the person who sent the highest bid in wins, it's completely fair as the person who attended the most bosses will win the best thing. Maybe other clans do dkp differently but the way relentless does it, I don't see a flaw

A less active person won't have as much dkp as an active one, some people the extremely active ones have 5000+ dkp, the less active are sitting around 2000-3000 and the active but not on all the time 3000+.

If a void helm of the moon drops, the rogue with 5000 will bid 4000 dkp and easily outbid the rogues with 2000-3000 dkp

So it's not a bidding system then? Whoever has the most points gets the item?

If Imperial Helm of moon drops, Rogue A bids 4k dkp and outbids rogues with 3k dkp.
What happens when a Void Helm drops the next raid?

One of the other very active rogue/rangers with 5000+ dkp will get that.

If you think a clan is built on 1 active person you are very mistaken

What other 5k dkp rogue? Why didn't that 5k rogue win the Imp Helm the first time?

My clan has been using a fixed point system per item and all eligible people with points who want an item roll. But lately for event drops we are using a dkp system of hidden bidding. You place a bid of points if you want an item. Hidden bidding gets people to put what they want and makes running up bidding difficult (we never had this problem). Returning an item gets you 75% points back.

So yes basically the person with the most points gets the item. It's a better system than fixed point rolling in my opinion, I'm hoping we adopt it on everything.

As I said earlier our clan handles this by returning the item if you win and you recieve a portion of the points back. So yes you can return a shadow helm for a void one. Using the points from previous items to bid is a fair way to handle this and frees them up for others who may want them.
