Same reason people buy snowman helms even though they're junk; they're rare and cool. They're essentially fashion that takes up a useful slot...

There will always be people like that ingame, nothing's perfect and close to no servers are either there's no denying that, there's a back story to why this grief war started, this is getting off topic so feel free to ask both Robert and a Retribution member (I'll get called out as biased if I don't mention them) about the situation.
