Power consumption itself, Apple falls far 2nd in. Look at the actual size of battery in an iphone vs the android device in comparison. Apple devices are actually cheaper to charge in comparison to android, but it doesn't really make that much of a difference since the price is minuscule. Java burns way more power than any Unix system on the market

Some do. I Prefer ios myself, but the only company I would say did it was Samsung when it came out with its first couple of android phones. Android itself has never looked like a copy of ios. It was the first with a notification shade and it had widgets. In the end they all end up stealing from each other.
