If you can only bring 5 then there's no point. regardless if the window is 5m or 3 hours.

Larger clans dominate bosses with long windows. Smaller clans can compete better if they know where and when to show up.

How so? come on dude, obviously this is not true. Larger clans always will dominate bosses if the time and the location of spawn is known. If bosses spawned at random times and location, and didn't required that many number of players to get the kill, then it would make it fair.

lol there is no "random time" when a clan is parked there and waiting for the spawn. You have no chance to call your clan and form a lock group, the boss will be locked within 1-2m. You are essentially forced to camp as well and a larger clan can sustain long term camping more than smaller clans. Let's all stop with the "stumbling upon a boss". That is not true for events like these.

One hour spawn window is nothing more than an inconvenience to players. I'd like to hear a comp server where no clan is waiting for Osan or Urchaid and players just happen to see them without no one else noticing.

"Let's all stop with the "stumbling upon a boss". That is not true for events like these." Yeah because there are not events where a boss can appear anywhere in the map. We are used to with the mechanics that we know the location of the boss, thus players end up camping it. If this wasn't the case, you would get players travelling around the map looking for the boss, a game of hide and seek, first to find it gets to kill it. And yea there is not random time, but what I mean is that a boss doesn't need to have a predetermine spawning time. A boss can appear at any time after he its brought down, within a window of x hours. For example lets say a window of 1 hour. a boss gets kill at 12:00, the boss can appear at any time within that hour. (12:05, 12:30, 12:35,..., 1:00). He gets kill at 12:33, then the boss can appear at any time within an hour ( 12:37, 1:20, 1:21,..., 1:33)

You think? Currently the way OTM has it designed is that a boss can only spawn on one spot. But let's say they change the game so a boss can spawn anywhere. But there is only a finite number of spawn locations. Are you saying that clans will not put sentries on all these spots and camp nonetheless? If a boss can spawn at 10 different locations, who do you think has an advantage putting sentries at all 10 spots? A large clan or a small clan?

The large clan of course. A large clan will always have a higher chance to get the boss if the difference in number of players that are able to kill such boss is significant. But why cant the boss appear absolutely anywhere? Not just 10 or 20 location, but anywhere within the boundaries a player has access to. The boss might or might never appear in the same location again. So anywhere a player can go, the boss can appear. How many spotters do you have? But, with a random spawning location boss, the probability of a non-dominant clan getting the boss is higher compared to a one spot spawn boss

I think you're missing the relevance of the thread.

The point was that a longer spawn window will only help bigger clans, and although it's an inconvenience, I'm not going to complain too much since the rival clan on my server will not get a single kill because of this.

They simply can't rival our 8 people sitting on the spawn for an hour, whereas if they knew when it was going to spawn, they could form a group and have a chance.

No doubt that having no spawn window would help the non-dominants clan gather a bigger group compared to having a spawn window boss, but in the same way it would help the dominant clan gather a larger group as well. So either way the non dominant clans are in disadvantage.

The probability of a non-dominant clan vs dominant clan is not what this discussion is about. Its more the fact that a smaller clan will always be at a disadvantage if there are longer spawn windows, hell windows in general. But when there are no windows, it levels the playing field for both larger clans and smaller clans. Ail also hasn't stated that when the other 4 raid bosses are due, how will a small clan compete with a larger clan? (rhetorical)

I do agree with the random spawn areas, but in an event like this, even if there was no timer, the larger clan would win again.

Of course non-dominant clans are at an disadvantage. That's why they're, umm, non-dominant.

But at least if there's a fixed timer, it will simply be a 8v8 lock battle with a chance of winning, rather than a 8vX during the 1 hour where the non-dominant clan will only be able to spare a few members to camp.
