How would it change the economy for the worst?

Itd be harder to offer on items(youd need to track the person down and ask them to remove the item from the auction house to buy it), and itd be harder to be a merchant(due to the everpresent competition of people selling items when they aren't even online).

Nah... the economy is far too small and there are way to few of people for it to have much of an effect on the market, especially for more rare items. Merchanting won't be much/any harder either, it's just a different style and technique

Because it's just as easy/better if you know how to do it right... 10m a year really isn't that much either. I could easily make that farming bosses and stuff if I really tried.

Not if there was a bid option on the AH as well as a buy now option and I would of thought the mail box would be utilised also, u know like the item goes to u in the mail and the gold goes to the seller. No point in even having an AH if that didn't happen, it'd be like a 3rd party app like groupie or whatever. I really can't see why a merchant couldn't use the AH house tho, it would be like using a middle man kinda like a factory and an outlet store

Merching is fine the way it is, this would only make it harder trust me. And farming bosses for 10m, thatd be hard, real hard, just saying. I would say how much i made from merching but i don't like bragging.

You could bid but you could not offer items as a trade though. Like sometimes ill offer xps in a trade and people will favor those over gold.

I would love an auction house, personally.
Currently I don't sell much, my bank has all kinds of odd bits of fashion, etc from over the years, but I can't be bothered to sit in the castle shouting every color of crown I have or what pieces of Hunter im selling. If I could put it on the AH I could sell it and still play the game im here to play. Remember the Mobs out there, the Bosses, your clan? That's the fun part for me anyway.

It would make it harder for 'merchants' to take advantage of newer inexperienced players.
