There are quite a few people who have powered through all the issues with XP. Checking level leader boards and there are quite a few 140+ characters.

Reading the posts of these players you begin to see a trend that many of them have previous MMO experience. They have learned the lessons of what leveling in an MMO entails.

The horror stories from leveling in Everquest would seem completely unimaginable today. Imagine "HELL" levels being part of the game. Starting at level 30 and every 5 levels afterwards (35, 40, 45, 50) requires double the total experience you have earned (eg 100,000 xp for lvls 1-29, another 100,000xp to get to 31). When I played EQ it took me 3 months to make level 30, it took me another 6 months to get to 31. And this repeated every 5 levels. Next add in the play factor that when you died you lost 10% of your level in XP. And yes, it was possible to De-level if you died multiple times consecutively. A couple of minutes of bad luck in EQ could erase a months worth of leveling!!! Ahhh, the good ol days... NOT!

OTM has found a balance between the insanity of leveling in EQ and having a game handed to us on a silver platter. It's not easy leveling but it is not insane either. The lessons that others have learned from EQ and other MMO's they apply to CH and can level up. Some use elixers, some do not.

I'm not trying to be harsh but to level past 100 requires an adjustment of strategies. I'm capable of soloing as a ranger but is it effective to level solo? No, it is not. And nor should it be. An inevitable part of an MMO is having to group and work with other players. Partner up with other classes. Each class has it's strengths and weaknesses and learning how to maximize your effectiveness in a group setting is what an MMO is all about.

I have played runescape years ago, starting at a young age. That game's levels are slower because levels were base on skills in that game. It was fine then but there was more than leveling in that mmo.

Let's not forget that this is a mobile mmo and leveling will always be the main thing.

The xp requirement is calculated as kills per level, the xp for enemies does increase as their level increaes, but so does the xp requirement for the level, resulting in a linear increase in kills per level required.
On the surface this sounds reasonable but there is another factor that is not considered. Time. At level 50 a fight only takes 30 seconds but at level 100 it takes at least 60. My mage always needs two e shields in a fight.

Also, the xp per level is linear as mdmarco has shown, but the xp per mob is not going up with the same slope. Combining the two factors and the xp per hour graph is not linear. Min per level is parabolic, use excel and do a simple experiment and it is obvious. Even if min per mob were a constant the min per level is constantly increasing.
Here is a simple example of what Admins statement means.

I took a look at the graph and the xp per mob line is incorrect.
You're saying it's lvl + 10.
That's not the case.
I may be interpreting your graph wrong, so try not to yell at me.

That's not the case. I'm lvl 80 and I get 1700 xp per mob. Based on your linear equation, I should get 90.

Ok, I said it was a simple experiment. The point was to use very simple numbers and show on one graph the concept of what admin is claiming. Of course the graphs are not accurate but they are linear. That is what admin is claiming. Mdmarco is trying to discover the real numbers if you want that. But it will not change the shape of the curve.

All linear formulas are of the form y=mx+b. My m and b are wrong but the linear formula is directly from admins quote. So from his quote alone we can see that as you go up levels it takes increasingly longer to level. The fact that fights also take longer turns the curve parabolic. Real numbers will not change that fact.

Wait, I thought I showed xp/level goes up exponentially *not* linearly. Well with my new data I will re-plot so we will see...

However we do know with out a shadow of a doubt that mob xp is going up linearly and we know the slope.

I meant xp per mob is linear with level. My bad for not being clear.

The difference though is that most people who play games on their mobile devices are not hardcore gamers like people who play on PC or Mac. Most mobile gamers want a quick game they can pick up and play anytime without having to spend 5+ hours a day to make progress. The target gaming audience on mobile devices is much different than on a computer.
