Just like the title says, is there a defined time for an the very short period? This is assuming you saw the item turning to very short almost instantly.

Instead of very short, short, long as auction time, maybe VR can change this to number. Like 12:00:00 - 00:00:10 - 00:00:01 so that we know what time to bid in auction.
And i suggest VR admin will control the price to all items at auction. So that if a new player want to sell or buy an item at auction he/she will never get scam. For example i want to buy mount token at the auction but i dont know the price. I dont have to worry that i will get scam because the price to all mount token at the auction are the same. So if the price is 50k, all mount token at auction is 50k.
If VR will control the price, everyone can be a merchant even a newbie.
If VR will control the price, you remove scammer and the greedy merchant at auction, no overprice items, and the economy will flourish and grow.

I think Furyion will hate this suggestion.

I dont think vr should be able to control the price for items as it can get messy with things like fashion or gear. Still they can possibly give an average number for the items selling price (dont count unsold items)

Not for the reason you think I would

Theres no such thing as a set price, people will pay more or less for things dependent on supply and demand, and this goes for gold too. Chests went from 10k each on lugh back then to 50k today. If fixed prices were added, then it would cripple the economy. No one would list things if the price rose, no one would buy anything if the price fell and they couldn't list it any lower.

Also, paying too much for something is not getting scammed, unless someone misleads you into doing so(saying faerie weapons last forever to get a sale, etc). It is also an equal fault of the person paying a high price too, you have to look at it from all sides. Most(not all) merchants are decent people, and they help keep the economy flowing with items and gold. Even if you wanted a world with no merchants, it is bound to happen, someone will understand the economy better then the general populace and trade based on it.

Im saying this for my personal experience, because theres a game that im playing right now that admin control the price. Its an mmorpg game and its very popular. Top 10 grossing at the playstore. I wont mention the name so this topic wont be deleted. That game was My 2nd favorite game, Celtic Heroes is my first favorite.
The admin in that game change the price depending on the supply and demand. And they lowered the price to all items, thats why that game is very popular.

If you pay 4 million for a dragon egg that i just pick in Otherworld, do you think its not getting scammed.
Players just put anything and everything thats worth nothing at the auction to scam. If admin control the auction house you avoid getting scam. Or admin just allow scamming.

These are just my suggestions, dont hate me.
If admin like my suggestions, then im happy but if not im still happy. Im still playing this game, because i love this game.

There are tens of thousands of items in the game. You would have to be absolutely insane to think it would be possible for VR to decide and manage prices for each item! I’m with Fury that it would be a horrible idea...the fun part of the auction house is checking for people who are desperate to sell an item, and are listing it way cheaper than anyone else. Prices do change over time, sometimes for the better, sometimes not. That’s what makes it interesting. If everything thing sold for the same price (especially across servers) people just wouldn’t use the auction house...it would become obsolete, as pretty much no one would want to sell their item for the “admin” price.

The obsidian dragon egg issue falls under what Fury said as well, if you fall for that, it’s your fault for not paying attention or knowing anything about what you are buying. It’s always good to do your research, ask a friend or clanmate about something if you aren’t sure.

I don’t think the time period should be visible to buyers since they can last-minute bid to prevent anyone else from going higher.

Lol!!! Okay i just want to share my experience in other games that i played. Because i like the way the Admin in that game manage the price at auction house. Its easy to buy and sell in that game. Even a noob can be a merchant in that game. If that game are successful because the Admin are controlling the price, then maybe Celtic Heroes too if they follow. Theres nothing wrong in imitating other games if that makes you succesfull but its VR choice.

Lol again!!! "Its your fault for not paying attention". Eragon said.
Blame others for not paying attention, instead of helping these players for their mistakes.
People are not perfect, sometimes we dont pay attention or make a bad decision.
But if VR will think about controlling the price, then they can prevent players for making bad decision because theyre not paying attention.

I agree that imitating other games is great! I’m a developer, I do that daily :? That being said, this would be a massive project - going through and assigning prices to every item in the game. Unless they wanted to use the selling price of each item, in which case every single boss drop will never be seen on the store lol.

Also, just because this system works for one game, doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for CH.

I think a key thing is what you mentioned...that even a noob could be a merchant. That’s not necessarily a good thing imo. A lot of these game merchants are where they are because of a lot of dedication and perseverance, not to mention a healthy dose of luck. Setting the exact same price for all items when sold on the auction house just doesn’t seem like a good idea to me....it takes all the fun out of it as both a buyer and a seller.

I do blame people for not paying attention (it’s 100% their fault, not the person they bought the item from), but I am also a huge supporter of helping other players out. That’s why I specifically said “ask a friend or a clanmate”. If someone is too arrogant to ask for advice, and makes a mistake, I believe that mistake is fully their fault. However, the smart players learn from that mistake, and move on having learned not to do that again.

Also, if this is only affecting the auction house (which would no longer become an auction house I suppose) then that doesn’t stop people from making the exact same mistakes in normal trades. That honestly seems like the more likely issue imo, where you are actually talking to the person you are buying it from, they may be rushing you along, you may feel too rushed to check the item, etc.

I guess the point I’m trying to make is that idiot-proofing is hard work, and not always completely possible, especially in online scenarios. I agree that having set prices for everything would help with that a lot, but I don’t think it would be worth the major (negative) impact it would have on all the other players. Want to sell your idols 100each because you have an insane amount? Nope, too bad, VR decided 200g each is the price, and now there are 10 other people selling the idols for the same price, the chance of a buyer picking yours by random is quite low. Boss drops would be a lot worse.

There was a very good post (maybe a few weeks ago) that suggested how to make the ah timers actually work like an auction house which essentially solved the last minute bidders and allowed people to see the time. I suggest anyone support that post so that vr can see how many people want it.

As for the op, I used to think very short was 6h but when I missed a few auctions someone told me that they figured it was actually 2h and all our experience does support that. Afaik, 48h long, 24h med, 12h short, 2h very short.
