That is pretty unfair, at least if there was room in the group and the ppl who killed him accepted your gold to get in on it. My advice is not to offer people gold to do this sort of thing, at least not at this stage of the game. It would be different if there was a full group of level 40-60's who still needed to kill him and they just didn't have room for you, but this doesn't seem to be the case from your post. Whatever the case, ask around a bit more and I am sure you will prevail, there have to be at least a few ppl who aren't bullies/cons on your world...
That being said, threads of this nature are probably better served if they are posted under your respective home server board, as then perhaps someone in your world could respond and possibly help you out.
Good luck!

Wow... Someone actually asked you to pay. That is outrageous, IMO.
I am still figuring out etiquette for these things in the game. I don't accept friend or trade requests from people I don't know. Ever. For some people this is likely considered rude.
It varies how I am about group requests. The other day we had one of the giant eyes. A few of us had whittled it down to about 20% health when some others started showing up needing it for the quest. We had them join even though we were almost done. One of the last people to join, saying he needed the quest, got the blue binding, which I still needed. He immediately logged off and then came back in about 20 minutes selling it. Honestly I have no hard feelings about this, but it is a demonstration of very different models. My assumption is that he simply did not think about it, so for him it did not seem strange, though to everyone else in the group it did.
I don't have some general rule about it, but I am less likely to group with that guy again. I still don't know what half the drops are and for all I know I kept something at some point in a similar way.
I guess I feel like any group should accept someone who needs the quest, but the questers should be open to at least a conversation about drops from the group actually killing the boss. Summin like that.

Pigman you are part of the problem with this game. I am a level 60 and do not have this quest completed because of high levels killing dustwither bossed for gold. There is no reason a 100+ player should be in low level areas killing avatars. Also you clan is a high level clan, how the hell is a level 40 going ti be able to group with you.
