hello everyone i don't know if anyone knows the answer to my question because i have gotten various different answers. the question is....how does DPS and group DPS and using work? I've always been wondering because iv seen evenly matched groups KS each other and iv seen just 1 person out DPS an whole group of people. Just something iv been getting different answers on and would like to clarify! thanks guys!

There are some who think that holding aggro is the Key to gaining the kill credit and loot reward. I believe this has been proven to be false numerous times.

Can you be more specific to the solo individual KSing an entire group? Are we talking about a Lvl 120+ mage coming in after fight started and Stealing the Kill from a mixed group of tank (around Lvl 100 and others at or below 100?) More info might be useful .

I have had situations in which I felt a group was going to KS my groups initiated combat, added my Vines and bolts, Calmed my tank and other DPS goup mates - switching aggro to the next highest dps... Those outside my group. Easing the need to heal. And still been rewarded with the kill. Everything happens so fast in some bosses - it is hard to determine true effect of the situation.

The kill should be determined by (at least) DPS and Healing. A solid boss group (1-2 tanks, 1-2 druids, rest dps) should always get the kill even against a pure dps group. Not sure how it is in reality, we don't have much KSing on Arawn.

Personally, I like the group specific dungeon system better, since you can't KS there.

The guy who deals the most damage get the kill.

Example:

A group of Rogue A and rogue B are in a group and attacking a boss.a single rogue C attack the same Boss.
Rogue A did 5000 Damage
Rogue B did 4000 Damage
So there group did at all 9000 damage.
Rogue C did 5500 Damage. So his group did 5500 damage.

Group of rogue C will get the kill.

My personal experience says that the kill is based on all damage numbers of a group, combined Vs damage numbers from other groups/ individuals

I have only stolen a kill from a group once, and believe that I probably did out damage them all combined. Keeping damage numbers after respawning has made this less likely, but have no idea what changing groups, relogging, or ther various things do to damage numbers.

I don't generally get involved in fights that other teams (or unevenly matched teams) begin though, so my experience is limited.

The way it works at the moment (needs to be changed).

Whichever GROUP deals the most damage, gets this kill.

Example -

GROUP A -
Druid - 0 damage done
Druid - 0 damage done
Druid - 0 damage done
Tank - 5k damage done
Tank - 5k damage done
Mage - 10k damage done
Rogue - 15k damage done
Ranger - 15k damage done
Essentially a perfect 1-group boss team.
Group damage - 50k

GROUP B -
Rogue - 15k damage done
Rogue - 15k damage done
Rogue - 15k damage done
Rogue - 15k damage done
A DPS-Heavy ksing team
Total Damage - 60k

GROUP B gets the kill because they do more damage. Even if they distract all fight and don't take aggro once.

Healing and holding aggro do not take affect AT ALL on the outcome of the drop, it is all in which group does the most damage as a whole. This needs to be changed.

It's total group damage guys not individual if I attack lava boss and dO more damage then 10 in group individually I would not get kill as they have higher group % damage I am pretty sure this is how it works

I think there are 3 variables included...

1) group damage %
2) player levels
3) luck

This has been discussed before but a druid has no effect on the reward of the kill.
DPS rules and that needs to change.
If a warrior tanks the entire fight and the druid kept him alive there should be some reward for that.
Now as it stands, a dps group will always take the reward.
