I just posted about the e shield on the mage forum; either these guys are bugged or those spells are part of the main quest now.
ALL my spells so far I either bought as a quest, or given to me also as a quest.
L48 energy-shield-less mage.

I'm not a mage, but I think this is a pretty urgent patch, I'm sure energy shield is a much needed skill

That, and for newbs like me, essential when trying to follow good advice from veterans lol.
Up, and including this Sunday alone, I had people telling me to use my E shield, and when I tell them I don't have it, keeps sending me to the vendors. So I keep having to explain to them that the vendors do not fact sell them right now lol.

That is frustrating. I don't know where you get that tome now.
I'm the lvl 119 energy-shield-less mage, but that's by choice. Too bad I can't sell you my spell.
I tried energy shield for an afternoon. Hated it. I'd cast it, run out of energy to cast and stand there hitting things with my flimsy lil wand.
I should give it another try one of these days, but it would be such a total rebuild I'm not sure I want to spend the plat on experimenting with it.

I guess I may be misunderstanding the post...if the spell is completely not in the main starting quest anymore and isn't in the game vendor either and there is some gross oversight then yeah that needs to be patched immediately. I would PM Community about it, write a concise clear message what the issue is and ask that she forward it to someone for next patch.
If it's in the starting quest, I would just get a noob Mage redo the starting quest and trade it to a clanmate before using it, and delete the noob Mage,

Um easy fix for this you can all do yourselves...
Make a new account, all with noob mages on it, use a friend to power level you thru the quest and then instead of "USING" the skill trade it to yer clanmate. Then delete toon and do it again.
I understand they need to fix this, but the fact is all you mid-lvl energy shield-less mages have the power to fix it yourselves till they fix it. Just get a clan mate to help you.
If yer really smart, you will do it a few times, get a few extra and sell them, the demand is huge
Let me repeat... It's a problem, it needs to be patched, but it's totally in your power to fix if you choose to.
What quest?
Since you know, can you share that info? I'm on Kill Luther, L59 quest and still have not encountered it, and I don't have any one I know well enough that would PL me to those heights..

It's Definitely not part of the Start Quest, and it's a Guess that it's part of the Main quest (simply because all my other spells/skills came via the main quest), Or those guys are bugged.
