Rangers should have skills for when using a spear!

#1
Hi guys :) as my new ranger has turned out to be my main character (not expected lol) i do get quite bored of just using a bow all the time :/ so just recently i started to train my spear ability and my melee hits harder than most of my bow skills lol it would be pretty cool if you could add a few skills in next patch/update. Good idea or am i asking to much ??

Also for mages how would you like a two handed staff type weapon?
Sounds like something I'd say to a noob when they ask for free weapon.

I have to agree with previous threads that suggest offhand weapons/items have made two-handed weapons obsolete.

Per topic, I'd also like to see more spear skills available in general, not necessarily ranger-only. Some sort of Thrust, or Puncture, or Spinning Strike.

Actually, I'm seeing alot more rangers using spears. My ranger is using one. I seem to average more damage from a spear than a bow. The bow will probably always be the #1 ranger weapon though simply because of laziness. Rangers can start the game with a bow and start gaining skill immediatley, while the spear skill and the availability to even get a spear to use doesnt come until much later on. That said, people opt for the easy route. Why start all over with a new weapon type skill when what they have works, and works with all of their classes skills? It takes alot of work to raise up the spear skill and it requires a different play style. You cant be lazy and just bola everything and hit it from a safe distance. The spear is up close and personal and requires you actually pay attention to your health, etc.. I dont think weapon-wise one is better than the other, but skill-wise the bow has the definite advantage. Play how you want, let the haters hate, and let the noobs quit after a week.

I agree with the people who said the two handed Mage staff isn't the best idea. Mages already need all the regen they can get, so why take your offhand which gives nice stats and 15 or 25 energy regen? Unless maybe unlike wands, the two handed staff did crushing damage. That might help mages do more damage with their melee. However, then this would mean more points in str and less in focus, so less total energy and spell dmg. So I don't know if that's even a good idea.
If two handed staffs are made for mages, energy regen would be a pretty essential stat for the staff to have. Maybe even more regen than the arcane orb, say maybe 40 or even 50 regen, but then no bonus to energy or focus. That way mages would have an option of more regen. Anyway, just an idea.
