Rogues need sorting

First we need a revamp on skills we can barley use sneaky attack and quick strike does less damage then melee lol its about time we get our class sorted as you seem to do every other class otm. :( anyway rant over haa anyone else know how to make rogues better after all were supposed to be the dps class :)

Hi there, currently there is a bug where rogues can cast sneak attack without being hidden even if the enemy is hostile and attacks them before the skill is completed.

We could change this so that rogues need to be hidden to cast sneak attack, also we could consider changing assassinate so that it only works if the rogue is hidden or behind the enemy or some other type of requirement.

Would be great to hear your thoughts on this.

Maybe make rogue auto attack do less dmg, so skills will look better :D

Seriously tho, I know (well, from reading Pig's post) that there are issues with the various rogue skills, but you're still the DPS king, And have some rather interesting alternate role on top of that.

Rogue skills are pretty messed up.

Assasinate and sneaky are nice damage but too limited or their cool down is too long. If the cool down wasn't so long than the limitations wouldn't be so bad or if the limitations weren't so bad the cool down wouldn't be so horrible.

Making it so you can only use assasinate from behind the enemy would mean it is impossible to use solo which is pretty lame. Maybe make it so it works behind the enemy and anywhere under 30%. The damage is fine.

Sneaky attack the damage is fine also, I like that it is unavoidable which was my suggestion after update 3. I don't think it needs a major tweak, perhaps a slightly smaller cool down but it isn't bad.

Rend is bugged and I have stopped using it since update 3. Sometimes rend does horrible first strike damage. I know admin has said this means the hit was evaded and only the dot damage procs, but it also occasionally evades all together so I don't understand this. The DoT effect at 30/30 is also pretty small compared to other DoT skills.

Poison weapon has great potential but the long casting time coupled with the low duration of 1 minute makes it not worth it a lot of the time. If poison weapon duration was changed to two minutes it would be a lot better and more used. I don't understand why it uses a dex modifier as far as practicality goes I think a vit modifier would make more sense. The more vit you have the stronger you can stand placing the poison on the weapon without injuring yourself.

Quickstrike is fine imo. It has been tested and it adds extra damage and does not effect regular hit delay, just animation so some rogues don't get this. It is also useful in interrupting mob skills.

Hide is good for lower levels. It is a pretty unique skill. I don't understand why lava floor removes it though.

Play dead is pretty useless. Players originally thought it would mean the mob just sat there not regaining HP and we could get back up and continue fighting when solo, but as is it is just an animation.

Smoke Bomb isn't very useful mainly because accuracy isn't generally an issue. I would like to see smoke bomb changed to effect the accuracy of the mob, making them miss more often instead of us hitting more often. It is a good concept but not worth the points because accuracy generally isn't an issue.

Fast reflex is good how it is imo.

Distract is good how it is, just generally not worth the points because if the tank is doing a good job we shouldn't need to use it.

Just my opinion on rogue's skill arsenal. As is I currently hardly use skills and don't wear rejuv items so much anymore because direct auto attacks no skills is generally better damage.

Also I wouldn't say rogues are on top dps. A hand to hand ranger usually out dps any kind of rogue. Every single aggy fight we have had has went to a hand to hand ranger, and our aggy fights have been as fast as 14 minutes.

Just curious how u refer to a h2h ranger out dpsing ur rogue. U can set ur rogue exactly like a h2h ranger with the difference being ur quickstrike works and his damage skills don't. Could it be he has better gear from summer dragon then u? Or is he simply using a rappid shot glitch with switching weapons? Cause other wise u can set up a build identical to his with same h2h ability

In other games I've played, there are certain skills that rogues can only use from behind or while hidden. But in those games rogues have the ability to stun their enemy so they can get behind them and cast their skill (the Sap skill in WoW is the one that comes to my mind http://www.wowwiki.com/Sap)

No, its bad enough for rogues as it is, a strength based rogue only has 3 starting skills, i dont really wanna start using hide either ;) I kinda want a new strength based skill to start, cuz rend and quick strike start to become pretty weak...
