According to those shots

Smellyunder is on dual devises, and his alt is named One (no log out line). Now, what is your friend/clanmates name? Smellyunder? Same spelling and every thing?

I've had someone try to con a friend by making a char named Mand0rallen (number zero, instead of letter o) and asking for 2K...

He used Smeiiyunder (capital i, instead of lowercase L) which shows up as SmeIIyunder.

That is so wrong. Good for you for being vigilant enough to figure it out. Anyone else could have easily been duped.
Scamming has been so rampant in this game from the very beginning and all you can do is guard your items.
I don't trade away anything I'm not prepared to lose even if it's a trusted clan member. You just never know, with account comprimises and similar names it's easy to be scammed. I've been fortunate that I'm able to xfer between my characters without another party involved. Others do not have the luxury to do so.

Smellyunder does not dual device and will never :)

And ty Aileron for clearing it up. Was trying to figure out myself how this scammer name would be spelt.

We currently have a person on Rosmerta who is making toons 'namesmage' etc to try to scam people. He is also claiming to be high level's alt with different names. Why people feel the need to do that is beyond me. It made it so a friend of mine questioned my new alt cause i named her Thyrasranger. I answers personal questions only i would know to prove to him, but is understand able because of these people.

When a stranger claims to me to be an alt of a member in my clan, i usually ask them to go on their main chars and ask me using that main character to ask for quest items or for their alts to be invited in clan. Also, for similar names, just look a lvl in the trade window. It shows at the bottom.
